Love to see everyone complain about mako saying it was a terrible performance but: the rapper doesn't even need to sing, its basically just talking fast, still hard but nowhere near as hard as singing properly the other dude just screams twice every 30 seconds and I'm 90% sure the big scream (the 3rd scream) isn't him actually singing, what you're hearing is mostly the pre-recorded sound The 3 of them are very skilled but mako had the biggest and hardest challenge, in terms of skill you can't use this performance to compare them. Edit: I saw somewhere in the comments that mako had some operation done 2 days before the live show and had a fever during the show.

Without commenting or judging on the 2018 version (especially since, regardless of the performance on the day, everyone should understand that about 1000 things can influence and impact the performance on a given day), I wanted to let you know that, if you still have any combination of mixed-feelings, resentment, or feelings of not belonging as a result of your 2018 performance, it's time to drop that. This song speaks about a journey, and thus its essence cannot be captured in a singular performance. You proved that this year, after coming full circle with your 2023 performance, which was an absolute banger. Regardless of what held you back in 2018, every aspect of your performance this year was an improvement. But still, that could not have been so, if 2018 never would've happened. In my opinion, you've proved yourself sir, you have aRISEn!

@Someone Telle is the vocalist for the band Word Alive. They do metal so that's why Telle can hit those high notes with that grit in his voice too.

Actually not sure that is 100% true about Telle singing the whole song. I could be wrong, but it seems like he has had vocal training for screaming. Usually if someone would save their voice for screaming, when they scream you could see the strain in their neck from producing that scream, but he doesn't. Any reason, Mako should have actually sung the thing vs trying to make it sound like the auto tune song.
