That's exactly what's about to happen. They think they are being smart but it's going to go down hill from here. Squatters are about to be at a full time high.
Rising rent can stay but guarantee whoever owns them will lose plenty of money. A building sitting with no tenants is useless. Just because you raise rent prices doesn't mean people is going to still rent them. And people will be breaking in if they have no where to go. It's a lose lose situation. People who own these apartments need money can't make no money if no one can afford to live in them.
It's just investment companies being too greedy to make return on they're income too fast. Gone get a ride awakening when no one lives there because they simply can't afford to. Jobs not giving raises like that
I’ll take a chance staying in my vehicle or getting an RV/camper or tent in the woods to stay in before I be subjected to paying this disrespectful and overpriced rent…especially considering how most of these rental places are raggedy, dangerous and in criminal infested neighborhoods and disturbing environments that make it challenging to even enjoy the quality of life in exchange of paying with hard earned money! This is a form of extortion and taking advantage of low income, poverty level people/working class people who are ALREADY STRUGGLING in an ongoing global pandemic is utterly DISGUSTING and Almighty God will likely deal with those responsible for this. And all of you fake “ballers” who are silent about this now because it’s not affecting you and you now will likely feel it by this time next year, so please don’t think that this is just a “poor people’s problem”.
it's okay they will eventually come off these prices when these apartments is just sitting. The objective is to make money not lose it and they all about to lose. Memphis minimum wage doesn't even cut it to ren apartments this high.

I call that Group Economics. Many of us should've been doing that anyway. We're getting ready to see some civil unrest people going to get angry and desperate. It's going to start in the poorer cities like Memphis. This is on top of the out of control crime we see today. Straight misery biblical proportions God help us.
there has to be a cap per square foot, alot of the property is gov. funded. people are cashing in. how can a 500 sq.ft. apt be $1200.00 a month. my own rent went up $500. in a 60 day period. buy a house, your note will 1/4 of what your rent is. bottom line; GREED

Well what did they expect? They allowed people to quit paying rent for a year. Now it is time to pay the piper. My tenant quit paying. I evicted his family. Rent was $500 per month. Now I need $1250 per month.
@@YAH-1 those landlords got funds from rental assistance during 2020-2022. Their greed has kicked in. And they got PPP Loans 😂 they didn’t lose a dime! They should be very ashamed
