As the boys build up to a quarter final showdown against Australia, Genki [Suntory Sungoliath's fourth choice scrum-half] joins us in camp and Jonny May opens up about what it means to win his 50th England cap.
Sure we saw him watching the Australia game with the none playing squad members too.. we were on the other side of the ground so can't be certain, but pretty sure it was Genki..
Been watching rising sons since episode 1, it’s really great being able to see what goes on inside in camp and outside of the game. Cmon boys let’s go all the way now !!!
This content is fantastic, really allows all types of rugby fans an inside look and also England fans to get more hype and support behind the team. Keep it coming!
@@chunckylover420 Some people are severely disabled, watching things like this provides joy and a link to the outside world, not everybody is blessed with even being able to move their legs and just up and leave their home, home can end up feeling like it is a prison, especially when you are really unwell on top of the disability. I just hate how some people seem to assume all people watching RU-vid can get a life! Maybe they are just trying to get through the life they have been given.
@@murdershe......7378 that is the case yes, as well as the case that many people don't know what it takes to be in an international team like England. It's a new view and perspective. To see the intense training these guys go through is impressive, and just the whole setup is amazing. But yes, it is sad that when you like something on RU-vid or even give an opinion then all the sudden you have to get a life. All people don't have the same privileges as the daily average person physically. Good luck England!
If any team in the last four can beat NZ it’s England, full of youth, power and pace. Just need to take our chances, we saw what happened with SA who dominated 25 minutes but one loose pass and they conceded a try, take the points when they come. Come on England 👏🏻
@@wanderer5829 As an Englishman I have to say you are deluded. If you think BEn Youngs is better than Smith or any of the second rows are better than Retallick you need help.
Excited and nervous for Saturday’s game in equal measure, but I have faith that the lads can do this and even if they don’t, that they will give it their all and then some. 👍🏼 So proud of them whatever the outcome, we have a cracking team and it’s a pleasure to support them. Come on England. 🏴🙏🏼🌹😊❤️👏🏼
ash hartling I know what you mean Ash, last Saturday’s game was a bit like that, but this one really does feel nerve-wracking, just got to keep the faith. 😬👍🏼😊🏴
@@SuperEdge67 just because the All Blacks dominate the sport doesn't mean that the six nations are as worthless as you're making out... Also, bringing up a player's background in rugby, still, nowadays is so petty. It's like England fans complaining about the number of 'English players' in the Welsh team. When it comes to rugby, England are consistently top 3 in the world. You can't just claim that they should be number 1 because of the population and resources... otherwise China would be unstoppable in every sport. The fact is that England are good at most sports. Have NZ even got a football team? I have huge respect for the NZ rugby team, I just wish I saw more respect from the fans, as that's a big part of the game that we grew up playing.
England you are amazing. I’m actually beginning to think you might actually bloody beat the kiwis. I have always felt that if you do, then the tournament is yours! My only worry is that a red card will make an appearance in this match. That will be the undoing of whichever team concedes it!
More like a 4 year plan. We dipped after 2 years as Eddie said we would when he 1st took the job after the initial adaptation to new harder more intense training regimes. We lost 5 in a row and it was common knowledge that the players were of the opinion they were over training and too tired come game time. But we regrouped went again had success and now we are hopefully entering a new era as all along Eddie was watching and taking note an as a result Eddie picked a squad of indiviuals he knew had the character and strength of mind to keep getting better. There have been controversials ommisions from the squad in particular Danny Cipriani the best English player in the english premiership. I think perhaps this year might be a bridge to far maybe 2023 we will reap the whirlwind.
@@gordonferrar7782 Few would dispute Danny's playing ability, he's a gifted stand-off half, and I love to see him at his best. I'm sure your point about character and strength of mind is significant. It's more than possible that Cippers disrupted the mood of the squads to a degree where Eddie couldn't make it work. He doesn't bring anything over and above George Ford, and he doesn't have that instinctive - almost telepathic - ability to combine with skipper Farrell the two have had for 20 years or so since schoolboy matches together. That can't be coached. People say we've no chance against NZ after the way they beat Ireland. They have short memories ... they seem to have forgotten that this same England handed two similar towellings to the Irish this year. This weekends match could possibly be the hardest one either side will face this campaign. Can we beat the All Blacks? Of course we can. We need to be absolutely on point from 1-23, and punish every mistake they make (it won't be many). However, they do start favourites, and for that reason there will be no shame if our World Cup ends with a defeat to a fine side on Saturday.
@@johnlambert7940 bravo John. I aggree with everything. After 10 minutes Ireland vs NZ i turned to my dad and told him NZ would win by 40. I'm sure we can beat them but just think they have a little bit to much out wide. I'm aware they are not the side of old i know the Aussies put 40 on the board and they lost to the Boks but when the chips are down they find an answer and have thag edge in big game management. I doubt Nigel Owens will let Keiron Read away with his usual hysteronics that guy gets away with murder and i think we will give them hell. I just have that feeling i had in 99 a good team together ready to do something great before Janie De Beers stole the script. The slow role towards 03 was memorable going downunder winning in Aus and holding off the Kiwis 2 men down it felt certain we had the edge. everywhere. Anywhoo i can't wait win or lose flying the flag
Can’t stop watching this series wish the welsh rugby union did something like this, Scotland and Ireland would be fun too just to see how everyone trains and feels
You can tell that Eddie Jones is a terrific communicator the way Aussies always are. We English can be a bit stoic and too watchful. Great choice as coach.
Elliot Daly not even catching high balls in practice sessions. Sublime player but not a world class fullback. Aussies toasted him on Saturday, he wasn’t even close enough to attempting tackles for the Aussie tries. NZ will look forward to running at him and peppering him with kicks. Slade’s Kick on the the first try was good but I dont have time time. To criticise the rest of his game, it would take a lot of writing. Hopefully Joseph and. Nowell start ahead of Slade and Daly. Eddie: please tell Youngs and Faz not to box kick the leather off the ball. It will lead to loads of no attacking opportunities and a few nz tries.
From the rising son videos i had a different view of the England team. Watching since episode1 loved it. Now rooting for England to go all the way to win it!!
Johnny May is reputedly the hardest trainer in the squad. It’s paying off. 50 caps and 5 tries short of becoming England’s all time try scorer. He should make it if he stays fit and in form for the next season or two.
Worth noting that May is already 6th on the list and the 5 guys above him were either in the 1991 or 2003 vintage squads., whilst May’s tenure has been during a relative period of team underperformance. Well done to the guy, hope he gets the extra 5 tries and gets to 2nd place! That’s a monumental achievement since he’s been active entirely in the recent pro era where defences are well. Drilled. (Can’t see him getting another 23 tries needed for first place)
Nz is a fantastic team who no doubt can beat us. I do look at these videos though and think we can do it. There is such unity amongst these players. Real belief amongst them. They are physically terrifying and they seem to have this focus of winning. NZ watch out. England are coming for you
Outstanding series of episodes! Well balanced and characterized and I enjoy each of them very much. As a Japanese fan, I believe it should be priceless experience for Genki to join the training with England team in the midst of the World Cup tournament.
I sense something special about these lads. Not going to jinx anything but just keep doing what you're doing and do your best lads. We're all proud of you and the way you're handling yourselves in Japan. Best of luck in the semis on Saturday, you can do it.
Wonderful insight to how English team go about things. 👌 On a side note, Eddie was complaining that someone recorded training sessions from a balcony ahead of the semi final with NZ and we have a full episode of their training on RU-vid. 😅
Have to say it was a great win on Saturday & Looking forward to this weeks win but don't think it will be by the same margin in points lol that would be a bonus. Carry on the good work lads & lets bring it home again. Good Luck to you all.
Lol, bro that's the thing. The all blacks have an entire squad of world class players who can make their own plays. England relies on a couple players to make the star plays with supporting players around them.
@@ShanePleasance Yeah! Brilliant game for us. I knew England had it in them but never thought it'd be that dominent. It should have been a nill score for Nz which is practically unheard of. Onwards to the final 😊
He tweaked a hamstring, but has been training and Eddie hopes he will be fit for Saturday. They're making a decision Thursday. Saw Jonny in Tokyo a couple of weeks back as our hotel was opposite the squad hotel. He's as mad as a bucket of angry frogs..
