trust your artist. they are the professional. if color isn't going to work, the size isn't going to work, the placement isn't going to work, whatever it is, they know best. sit down for a consultation first, talk ideas and designs. if you don't feel comfortable, see someone else. if you walk into a shop, the artist gives you something even though they don't think it'll work, that's on you.

Yeah but that doesn’t work in a competition setting. The whole point is that the artists have to adapt to what the client wants and they can try to convince the canvas to switch stuff, but they can’t turn away the canvas just because they don’t want to do a rip piece. The canvas often times has more power than the artists in this show, which I think is a fundamental flaw of the show and creates really hypocritical statements from the judges.

It isn’t but life isn’t fair I guess and in a competition like this where it is hard to give everyone an even playing field it’s really hard to make it completely fair. Part of the competition is working with the canvass but there is no doubt some awful canvasses have sent some competitors home which is a shame.

But if the tattooer is really pushing the tattoo and not being careful it will cause alot more pain then necessary.

What annoys me is outside of this show they wouldn’t push the people they are tattooing so much, I’ve got 50% of my body tattooed and I don’t push myself as much as these people. I also can’t sit still for hours so I normally just keep myself to 3 hour sessions, I get in a competition that their is a time limit but I honestly feel they shouldn’t rush them. If sometimes they are unfinished but the actual work is better then a finished tattoo I would like them to see reward the artist who actually does right by their client.

I liked Jamie's work in that season, but everyone kept going after him for not having tattoos himself as if it's a huge crime. There's many reasons why someone can't or won't get one. I can't get one because of issues with scar tissue, for examplr.

I hate how the artist treat the canvas, you’re putting something on a human permanently, just because you had someone with darker skin, and or skin tags doesn’t mean you can talk about how difficult it is or how it’s a disadvantage, it’s your job to know how to tattoo that different skin types

You can definitely mention it because sometimes it can affect your work but you should still be able to adapt but at the same time there are always going to be unique situations you have to learn from and they may have never experienced these sort of skins.

well these are edited and scripted. people want to hear them talk shit, so they are "encouraged" to speak like this. if you find them off camera, even when they are sharing "crazy tattooing stories" about Karens and what nots, they never talk like this. honestly its the show, these are some of the sweetest people on here... the artists talk shit about each other, then hug it out off camera coz they are actually besties 😂

@@mech0p true, I believe the artist should use practice skin to get a better understanding and idea of how to deal with darker or lighter skin so they are prepared, with unique skin types, I believe that just comes with experience and having already tattooed on that type of skin

That eyebrow is actually proportioned well. The problem isn't that it doesn't look real, but that the eye is so big it looks goofy. I don't think any eyebrow would look good. A straight up footlong eyebrow tattoo is gonna look goofy no matter what.
