Nah, 100% never produces more thrust than WEP in La 9 at low speed. WEP is always better. In case of K4, lowering thrust also doesn't ever increase thrust. Changing prop pitch is something different.

@@Alpakinator I wonder how the La-9 prop pitch is modeled, but there is a really good video by Adamtheenginerd on K4 MEC prop pitch. 109 prop pitch is quit different from other props tho

It's because La-9 had separated guns, much like the F2 Sabre

@@Alpakinator it's a result of the constant-speed prop needing such a high pitch angle for the airspeed/engine power that it effectively "stalls" and has a massive drop in thrust produced. The solution is to gain speed or reduce power, both of which bring the prop pitch back down to a working angle. In war thunder, Manually adjusting prop pitch changes the engine rpm for every plane except German ones.

@@atif1538 late 109s are pretty average actually, very slow and don't turn well in the one circle (quick nose to nose dogfight), they're good if the enemy plays bad. which is the common situation and that's why they thrive

@@atif1538 it's the opposite, the later they are, the better. The first Anton thought is very agile. The D9 and the Ta152H are quite good. The C version however is very stale and only relies on people taking head ons

@@WatchMysh perfect for speeding up the US plane tree grind, had it but didn't use it at all until they added A-10 :D my top xp for battle was like 37k (with booster)

yes, the la9 instead doesn't have a good damage model, just because Defyn knows how to dodge a barrage and gets a scratch from the quicker empty AP tracers doesn't mean the la9 has good ammo resistance. I've literally spent 4 30mm shots on F2Gs whenever I go with the J5N1

yeah you are right, its still fun do play with against noobs in their p51H and F2Gs though, as winning fights against them isn't too hard considering the average iq of us players. 23mm kill everything in 1 burst.

Don't know if this is too late or not, but the La-11 is absolutely hot trash. On paper, it looks like an La-9 with one less gun and slightly less engine power at a significantly lower BR, but that couldn't be further from reality. My best summary of it is like if the Soviets tried copying the P-47 and completely fell short. It doesn't climb particularly fast, its maneuverability is noticably lacking compared to its peers, the guns hit hard but lack ammo and have incredibly low velocity that make head-ons and target leading a pain, and really the only good thing about it is the speed that allows you to dive away in certain circumstances. And just to dash salt onto the wound, you usually get uptiered to 6.0 where you see La-9s that do everything you do but better. In fact, I'd go as far as to say the La-11 is almost totally inferior to the Yak-3P, since the ShVAKs hit nearly as hard now, they get way more ammo, and besides the rip speed the Yak-3 airframe does nearly everything better than the La-11. I'm 100% serious when I say that the IL-10 has offered more in regards to dogfighting.

My picks would be 1. Bf-109 F-K variants (Germany) 2. P-47 (without bomb loadout) if you want a more nimble fighter I would pick a corsair. (USA) 3. Yak-9 (USSR)

1) Spitfires. Especially from the Mk5 upward. The LF is absurdly capable. You can bully the sh*t out of almost every opponent. Stay low and pounce them just when they feel save. 2) BF-109 G2 and friends like already mentioned Minengeschoss go brrrr. 3) LA-7 and some Yaks. 4) XP-50... 5) ITP

Not at that br. The yak3u is a better plane at a lower br. La9 is a little faster and has a better dive speed but the yak is much better at lower altitude. More maneuverable, better energy retention, better acceleration. I prefer the 20s over the 23s but that's mostly preference. I would rather fly the yak at 6.0 than this

as someone who got through the whole Japanese tech tree, don't fly the Ki61's, there are much better planes for Japan. Japanese planes can gain speed and altitude out of nowhere, when I was playing the KI61's this wasn't the case Edit: The planes I used the most were "Ki-43 III otsu", "A7M2" and "J7W1"

@@meerbee2910 The ki-61s can be good all-rounders, but the Kai is just ass.

It's a very rewarding aircraft if you have little bits of succes in it. Probably because it's tiered a lot higher than it actually should be.

@@martijn9568 Unfortunately it flies straight up worse than the Ki-61-I at the same battlerating. It's barely any faster, loses a bunch of the maneuverability and firepower the I Hei has and still compresses just as badly.

Doubt Defyn is going to fly something so bad. He flew the La9 because everyone requested it and he's suffering. He also suffers if the plane doesn't have any remarkable advantage over the enemy (say the Mirages which are ridiculous one circle kings that either have to be played as f104s or you won't take a 1vX because of the bad energy retention)

I think he mentioned it in another video. IIRC boils down to "You have to bait enemy into a dogfight. If they go in and you don't fuck up - they're dead because your plane is simply better at it. But if they don't commit its extremely annoying, and there's not much you can do about it". Also, HIspanos are ok. Not great, not terrible.

@@Xiphactinus Certainly beats the S-199, that's a guarantee. Pretty sure that even a Cessna with an FN MAG strapped under one of the wings fired via string cord would be better than that flying dumpster.

Not to break your bubble, but the mig 9 is a flying brick. I've been grinding the mig 15 lately almost there. The mig 9 doesn't turn very well, low energy retention and subpar acceleration. You just have to stick to teammates and help them in dogfights that's all you can do

@@sosobel5843 Yeah that's true. Su-9 sucks at air rb but it's decent in Ground RB as cas. That 500kg bomb is good and the guns with ground belts can take out light tanks and ifvs very efficiently.

Here's my two sense for playing 99% of heavy fighters: 1. _CLIMB_ . The No. 1 strength of a heavy fighter is its ability to head-on and boom-n-zoom, and you can't do that if the enemy is above you. Also, never turn-fight anything, because you WILL lose. So climb as high as you can, and proceed to pick off the highest targets in head-ons or hit-and-run engagements. The one aircraft that breaks this rule is the SM.92, which does all of the above, but can also turnfight most enemies. But otherwise, prepare to be severely dissatisfied with the heavy fighter's performance.

@@sus5976 is it? I assume your one of the people to camp AAA then, an AI unit based on rng which can reliably and accurately 3 tap your plane at up to 7km away? How is that balanced? Either remove it nerf it or comprise along the lines of a suggestion like mine

I think removing AAA entirely is also valid too. For a single life gamemode, the repair feature of the AF should be considered a bonus and not a given. If you got critically damaged, don't feel entitled to get repaired while protected by AAA basically. The main reason for the AF would be to serve as the starting point (of course) and a rearming point for when the game might drag out due to a bomber or something like that. And considering that rearming is a thing only needed when you have the luxury of doing so, AAA should not be there to protect you. In fact if you only are there to rearm, you can just J out as your protection if you really have to and hopefully the enemy realizes too that they need to give you room to take off (as the one on the AF you'd probably be at a disadvantage, but that's the situation you put yourself in). I guess the only advantage of AAA is that without it many players would probably just do circles above the enemy AF, without realizing they are sabotaging themselves at that point... but I think that's better than people now camping AF using the AAA.

@@CyberRelic280 there if a huge difference between winning fights and going to re-arm,refuel and repair then spraying all of it in a etrended dogfight where both pilots make mistakes and then proceeding to try to eun to the AAA for your get out of free jail card, ARB is a 1 life mode the airfield alone is a bonus thay it repairs you realistic as it is the AAA makes it feel like a expected and not a privilege as it should be treated

@@CyberRelic280 there's nothing wrong with going to AF to repair or rearm (if you can, do it, why not), it is however (imo) wrong to get protected by AAA while doing so. Having to repair or rearm is usually a product or your own mistakes when playing, so treat repairing/rearming as a bonus if you do get away with it unscathed. You shouldn't essentially have a free retry due to AAA scaring off/killing enemy planes for you.

The elevator compression is unbearable on it though as far as I remember. La-5s were my favorite planes way way back in old WT though. At some point the FM got changed.

@@daradyou are right but elevator compress starts to be really bad at 650 its workable in other speeds still i dont understand why the la 7 is higher br than the la5fn

Tracer and Ground belts seem to be pretty good on the ShVAKs, as they deliver some good HE damage, though having the AP in the ground belt for pilot snipes is cool too. Dunno why the ground belt has mostly HE shells though lol.

I probably wouldn't. Firstly, because it's 1.0/1.3 BR above either of the La-7 models, while gaining very little in terms of flight performance, so you'll usually get enemies that can out-climb you, out-turn you, or both. The four 23s are potent, but have screw-all in regards to ammo (only like 75 rounds-per-gun I think), and you'll waste a fair amount of them too due to the pretty low velocity. This is for RB though, thing's a blast in AB from what I remember. Otherwise? Nah, just get the Yak-3U instead.
