Out of this hour-long talk, there are Muslims who took a few words and have criticized this noble and wise man --- they reduced this talk to saying "he's asking Palestinians to suffer silently" -- such nonsense. May God have mercy on his critics, and may he reward Shaykh Hamza for all his efforts to serve the community.
Then please explain what a literal statement like that means and what he meant by it. Second, why has he not himself cleared up such a statement that can easily be taken for exactly what it means. It's not the fault of the listener but the duty of the speaker to clarify when confusion is brought from his own sayings.

Assalam alaikum I am from Palestine. It hurts me to see brothers and sisters treating a scholar like this. I am not a follower or reader of Sh Hamza, havents read or listened to much of his videos or books, and cant judge him. Some people have created short videos where they cut short interviews, and tbh maybe i didn't like what sheikh said in those, but that act itself i didnt like either. We should doubt ourself that we might have misunderstood what sheikh said, and then give him execuses, i heard alot and alot about sh hamza, and that he did alot for Muslims in the west. He is still a human, and not perfect, he might have said wrong things, he might have opinions which we don't agree upon, but that doesn't give us permission to attack him this bad, this is certainly what our enemies want, we cant just simply turn a blind eye to all the great thins that he has done. Our ummah is in great pain, Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar, Sudan almost everywhere, but this is about time to great good change insha'Allah, lets stick together and be merciful to each other, other scholars could discuss with sh Hamza and clarify the points that we might have not liked or misunderstood, but not us go attack him disrespectfully and create fitna. In order to understand what he meant, you need to have listened to years of his lectures and you will comprehend what he was explaining in lecture . Sheikh Hamza was one of the first people to preach to the Muslim countries and ummah to stop eating at McDonald’s. He has made a remarkable impact though his speech for many many years. Just look up some of his lectures and listen to them in FULL. His teachers were amongst the most influential and knowledgeable in history . You have to understand his way of speaking. He is truly an outstanding person and leader in the Muslim community. I hope for everyone to respect him unconditionally because thier isn’t many Islamic scholars with his immense knowledge and years of study. ❤ people were yelling at him when he just began to talk in this lecture . It was disrespectful and it shows how reactive and inconsiderate people can get just for a few seconds . Did you even give him a chance to deliver his speech or message !??
Well said,the irony is none of his critics come even close what this great and noble man did for the ummah, and accomplished,he made most of his long time listeners empty us from jahiliya and filled us with wisdom, hence kept our heads up high. I know nothing can diminish of his nobility except expose the hypocrisy of hate mongers. May Allah protect and give him long and healthy life.

44:24 Truly, one of the great scholars of our time. I wish all of his work was available online for all to see. He does incline to pacificism a bit and I understand that -- that's his way. But, he is concerned with all the death and destruction we all see and turn away from -- it is a horrific reality. He really does care about the ummah. I have the greatest respect for him. I've heard many things and disregarded them as unfounded and very light on "evidence." Allah used Sheikh Hamza to bring me to Islam over 20 years ago, and for that, I'll remain forever grateful. My main issue is Sheikh Hamza has always been my go-to in times of tribulations and when I need guidance. I've very much missed his voice throughout this horror. I've rationalised it by thinking he must be doing dua or working behind the scenes. I do think the Sheikh does need to understand that many people look to him for guidance, and during one of the most troubling times for Muslims, people have really missed his voice. Some have missed it and let shaitan bring them to unwarranted conclusions. I know I've had to fight off these bad thoughts. Jzk Sheikh for stating this as it will help some people to ward off evil thoughts.
I have been listening to Sheikh Hamza for a long time and don’t remember him saying anything controversial or offensive about anyone. He deserves the Nobel prize for peace because when Demond Tutu can win so can sheikh Hamza. To me, Alhumdulillah, he is the most soft spoken non controversial ambassador of peace and a true ambassador of Islam in the world today who is respected by the people of all faiths. And of course an ocean of wisdom and knowledge as well.
He is the light of this ummah. He always have nice way of explaining the matters. People are just losing their mind to go against the opinion of such esteem scholar.

Is shaykh openly supporting jihad, an armed resistance on the land Palestine by muslims? There is no ambiguity in jihad. Did shaykh support and respect afghan jihad against western attack? Does shaykh respect mujahiddeen?

When he says It's necessary to suffer in silence. He means us and palestinians. We are all suffering in silence because we can't do nothing to help them. We can't stop the war or fight with them against enemies. People who are critisizing, they can't even understand his words, because they're not suffering like the way we're doing as non palestinians. They think palestinians are the only people who are suffering, because they themselves feel nothing, but they're pretending they feel something. They are mistreating him, because they have other agendas.

Ive been a big fan of Hamza Yusuf for last 20 years and have a noticed a huge change. The 2001 Hamza Yusuf had a fire burning inside him and would have never approver of the newer more passive version. Saying you have Palestinian freinds and read books doesn't absolve you from the responsibility of your statements. We need the old SHY back he was a beacon of hope for the whole ummah
MashaAllah insightful talk .. the Ummah benefits so much from these type of events. Nonetheless we can't expect our scholars and shuyukhs to be 'perfect' in the way they express in public platforms .. sometimes they can slip up but we have to be forgiving. The interruptions were rude and unislamic.. But shaykh did give his clarification that he was not a normaliser alhamdulillah very commendable indeed. What I found more troubling was his interview where he commented about Masjid Al Aqsa and the reference to the muslims as 'extremists'. The public would like to hear some clarity on what he actually meant allowing the Jews to build a temple.. Even the Chris Hedges interview at Zaytuna , shaykh also made some references to extremism on both sides esp when we see oppression at unprecedented level from one side; the Occupier. Even in this talk, towards the end bringing up the topic of Tableegi Jamath is also a bit confusing and unneccessary as that group is known amongst the enemies of islam as non-threatening.. you can google articles about Tableegi Jamath and the praises by Rand or the American government and Hindutva.. Sometimes , I feel when the Shuyukhs are trying to build bridges between the West and the East, they tend to compromise core principles of Justice .. I would like Shaykh Hamza to clarify if the self-defence in Filasteen is an act of extremism or taking part in the struggle is extremism? and the comments about Masjid Al Aqsa publicly. I hope he reads these comments and issue a clarification.
Shk Hamza Yusuf is the Best Scholar I know and his knowledge is vast, but the only problem here is that not indicating the way out to stop the Palestianians sufferring- he said patient/shukur only. They have been opperessed for decades, now it is enough. We should help with all possible support so that Palestinians will bee free like other human being in other parts of the world. Unfortunatly, the Muslim Leaders Except Few. they are doing nothing. May Allah help us to Make Palestinian Free and no more oppression. this is a meandering and incoherent talk .. hard to figure out what exactly he's addressing and yes the 'suffer in silence' statement is confusing and hard to make sense out of because he didnt contextualize it and so the only context one can glean is that Palestinians should suffe in silence .. that and some statements hes made regarding Masjid Al-Aqsa .. there is plenty of space for a temple etc and the extremists don't want to give it .. is he ignorant of Islamic eschatology? does he know about eretz israel and the temple institute etc .. its all very strange and perplexing and disappointing .. I stil don't get why people think he is saying for Palestinian to suffer in silence. His point to me is very clear, don't think by being cruel, people will listen to you, it's better to suffer in silence than be cruel. Isn't that what all scholars agree on. I am siding with syeikh Hamza on this matter. Not all fight have to involve taking up arms, we fight in the way that Allah likes best, even if it makes us do nothing but shabr. There's nothing more sacred according to Allah than the lifes of muslims and innocent peoples, don't sacrifice tens of thousands of lives of muslims, women and children, to achieve a goal.
