Beautiful lady inside out. Years ago my colleagues and I were blessed to fellowship with her. Heaven truly received an angel. She is deeply missed. Her laughter, legacy, and life is a true blessing to the education field.
What a wonderful teacher, what a beautiful human being. What loss to us all now that she has gone, but what a legacy. RIP Rita Pierson, I just discovered you and lost you all at the same time.
I am a teacher and i got to learn about you late last year at a work shop. I watched your video on RU-vid when you spoke on "Every kid needs a champion" and i was impressed and touched by every thing you said. I got to know your name today on Pinterest and unfortunately about your death as well. I pray i get to be better than you,so that i can both surpass your work and leave a legacy for others to follow. Well done ma.
She is an amazing speaker, her wisdom resonates with senior leadership and the front office staff. We continuously share her videos in our district and it continues to be a strong focus for all stakeholders. If your stakeholders have not seen her videos show it. Over and over.
So very sad that an educator who was as talented and insightful as Rita Pierson has passed. What a wonderful legacy she must have left to all those who had the privilege of working with and for her. Watching her videos has certainly shed light on many of the situations with which I have dealt in school in the past.
So I loved this great teacher strategy...she is very active the way she teaches....wonderfull...so funny...Sometime I make my student laugh so class becomes easier...she is wonderful
Where have you been all my life? Not only do I plan on showing this during professional development, but I also will show my students. I will push for your videos to be the NEW First day of school for all teachers, LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS
"I respect the rules you make for your children at home."--that's a powerful statement. It sets the stay for positive and effective communication between the school and home--a critical partnership to have for any child's academic success.
Marks Bernard how about calling the kids bluff? something like okay if your parents give you permission to do that have them.sign this permission slip for fighting. In a joking manner getting the kids to admit that their parents really don't support that behavior so you can then get to the real lesson of fighting, plus show the kids that you are in control of the environment at school, just like their parents are the environment at home.
Jennifer Swanson Except that some parents DO encourage their kids to fight when they have a conflict. I’ve even seen parents “schedule “ the fights between their kids.
you are amazing!!! i have been teaching 23 years and havent seen anyone break it down like you!!! I go through everything you say and I think I do a good job but hearing your perspective helps me know I am on the right track but you also give me several ideas to help my situation. I am definitely listening and about to use these videos in class and in any professional development I do in the school. Thank you for being you love!!!
I just discovered her and I already love her what a charming and smart lady! I wish I had her as my teacher. Is that true she passed away??? So sad if it's true.
Love her. I'm a teacher. That's kind of what I do. I tell the students that it's fine to follow Mama's rule when you're with Mana, but once you cross the school threshold, school rules apply.
We can teach the "two sets of rules" to kids at school but unfortunately in many public school systems, they don't learn the consequences of "losing their jobs" because the consequences are not being enforced from above.
So can anyone answer what should a kid do when they tell a teacher that someone is being mean and the teacher can't do anything because the teacher didn't see it? What can a student do to protect themselves when being bullied day after day?
I wish I had know who she was as I was raising my kids. Now I'm raising a teen age child and it's a mess!!!.I raise my kids without rules amd for them to make choices. One child is fine and is in college and one doesn't want to have nothing to do with me. Stay at home, doesnt want to go to school. Disrespectful.
