As a parent there are things that baffle me, like why a student could have free breakfast and lunches provided by the state and washrooms readily available to students, but then the student falling behind on work because they don't tell there parents they ran out of something simple like notebook paper or you'll find out they don't have a pencil, yet teachers like this in an attempt to be superheroistic will bring snacks instead of paper or cleaning wipes instead of pencils "cause it's hard to teach a stinky kid" she said in a previous video, this may be true however it's impossible without a pencil and this is what leads to falling behind on work then eventually causing behavioral issues. #justsayin
So, teachers are supposed to spend their own money for pencils and take their already non -existent time to notify parents about school supply levels because parents are too lazy to check their child's bookbag to ensure they have pencils? Are you serious? By the way, teachers DO bring pencils and paper along with the wipes and the snacks and the shoes and other things... out of their own pocket.
Teachers have been campaigning for "a better way" for years. Sadly, a lot of education policy is politically-based rather than research-based, and so we end up with these shitty situations.
Annie Harriet what's sad is everyone making excuses instead of making it happen, paper and pencils are cheaper then snacks and handy wipes, why do teachers waste their time and money on expensive shit that don't work. rather then the cheap necessary stuff that could actually show the students you care about them learning the subject matter.
Jennifer Swanson I don't know where you're from, but here in the UK all necessary schools supplies are provided for all pupils by law. I'm sure teachers in other countries do purchase paper and pencils for their pupils (and I know of some schools who supply those out of their budgets for children in need). I'm not sure what you consider to be the "expensive shit" that teachers are wasting money on, but I'm sure as a parent you can appreciate that hungry kids can't focus on anything, and neither can unclean kids. Also, schools are not just about subject matter, and never have been, particularly in the younger years.
