I grew up in pellaro Reggio Calabria,in via fosse di como . We had bergamotto trees, infat ; 350. Of them, I know exactly what , how, when and where these fruit was harvested. It was a back braking job, amd sometime it was Christmas when we gathered the fruit. It wasn't fun ut very hard work thT took weeks to. Omplete. I left when I was 18 in 1959 a d came to Canada of wich has beenu home for 65 years. In all those years I went back 3 times. Don't know when I will again. My siblings and I worked so hard in the land in those days, all was done by hand, machines. We had a donkey i and when I got older and wiser , I understood why the poor little smimal wS do tired just like the rest of us. Well, having daid that, I like yo osit, but Canada is my home.

@@huimo4886 The juice tastes less sour than lemon, but more bitter than grapefruit. The zest is great to add to earl grey tea both fresh and dried. Almost all citrus oils in the rind are aromatic. But you would have to experiment on what foods it goes well with. Like you put lemons on chicken or fish but maybe not grapefruit. Or how orange goes well with duck. I imagine it would make a good drink too, if diluted with water and a bit of sweetener to taste.

Calabria is such a beautiful place to visit and it is famous for their bergamot fruits. Do you happen to chance upon anyone here that would want to sell a small bergamot plant or some seeds to me in Malaysia. I would love to try planting it in Malaysia. Thank you.
