Fragrances just don’t have the same weight, quality, longevity, projection, they’ve all been watered down by IFRA. People born recently might not realize it but only recently due to these regulations have fragrances lost most of their potent power. If you purchase a fragrance in the 80’s or 90’s it would last all day. Same exact fragrance purchased today you will barely smell on your skin after an hour. All the natural musks. And nitro musks are long gone, look at the ingredient list on the back on boxes. Used to only have several ingredients, now there are maybe 20-30 chemical names listed on the backs of perfume boxes, because its all synthetics.
I work in a hotel and smell a lot of fragrances that people use. Nothing is more boring than a fragrance you know somebody is wearing and on the other hand, if someone uses a fragrance, that smells overwhelmingly great that you have never smelled before, this is one of the most impressive effects one can have on other people. and all he has to do for that is just a few sprays. actually, this is what being a fraghead is all about. the search for the perfect fragrance in that regard.
I grew up in pellaro Reggio Calabria,in via fosse di como . We had bergamotto trees, infat ; 350. Of them, I know exactly what , how, when and where these fruit was harvested. It was a back braking job, amd sometime it was Christmas when we gathered the fruit. It wasn't fun ut very hard work thT took weeks to. Omplete. I left when I was 18 in 1959 a d came to Canada of wich has beenu home for 65 years. In all those years I went back 3 times. Don't know when I will again. My siblings and I worked so hard in the land in those days, all was done by hand, machines. We had a donkey i and when I got older and wiser , I understood why the poor little smimal wS do tired just like the rest of us. Well, having daid that, I like yo osit, but Canada is my home.
I wonder, if music is stored in a separate part of the brain- that diseases like dimentia & Alzheimers cannot destroy, is scent the same? Or similar? I'd be interested to see studies on this.
It's clear nobody wants ifra, they turned off conments on their own account on RU-vid because they know what the comments will be like. Adults don't need bans, educating them is enough and it should be their choice if they want to risk or not.
Indie perfumer here. I absolutely love and adore fragrance. It is a goal of mine to be as successful as these masters. Great work and well said on all accounts. Perfumery is an everlasting learning journey. There is so much to know. New techniques, new combinations, new materials. I love being able to do this everyday of my life. It isn't a job. It's a passion, and I feel blessed everyday to be able to share it with the world.
Scent. So powerful, for better or for worse. I have a friend who’ll buy a new fragrance whenever they go on a vacation or prior to some special occasion so as whenever they are feeling bluesy they’ll wear that scent and it’ll subliminally embrace that that positive experience. It sounds weird, but it actually works.

Yah true. The original smells dated like pine trees in a forest, nothing unique or masterpiece about that if you live near trees and smell that all the time.
