Reading through + Commentary on Disappearance of Rituals, Ch. 1, pp. 1-4
Byung-Chul Han (born 1959) is a South Korean-born philosopher and cultural theorist living in Germany. He was a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts and still occasionally gives courses there.
Much of Han's writing is characterised by an underlying concern with the situation encountered by human subjects in the fast-paced, technologically-driven state of late capitalism. The situation is explored in its various facets through his books: sexuality, mental health (particularly burnout, depression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), violence, freedom, technology, and popular culture.

I literally laughed out loud when you said "I better stop before I get in trouble" - or something to that effect. Popper's paradox of tolerance came to mind and I can't help but wonder if this phenomenon has played a role in the author you're discussing here in his apparent move throughout his philosophical thinking over the years? This gave me a lot to think about... Like brushing teeth as the cleaning of the alter. Thanks for sharing!

Ha, thanks! The Popper reference is a really good connection. I suppose it helps give a more generous view of what limits us or what we know might not be ideal or make sense or even be grounded in truth but has some practical usage. Anything that is pure can also be a poison in inappropriate amounts or applications.

I live Eros in your perfect beauty, in the sweetness of your voice, in the clarity of your thought, in the impossibility of closeness, in the eroticism of your countenance.
