Hi everyone well we are looking at going there so excited to see your review very helpful but have a question if any body could answer that would be so helpful the beach obviously looks stunning but the ocean looks quite a walk out or is it just optical allusion thanks guys happy holidays ❤
Thank you for your review it answered many questions we had. We are heading out next week and can’t wait. We are a family of four and three of us are vegan. Did you happen to notice if there was a vegan food selection?
Glad you found it useful. None of our party were vegan so I cannot comment personally however I’ve read many reviews that have said there is plenty of vegan options. Hope you have a fab holiday, you’ll love it there ☀️
Great blog, we’ve booked for next year, normally, we go Caribbean or Indian Ocean for our winter sun, but this will be our first closer to home. Looking forward to less travelling hours. One question is ‘how much is the tax you pay per person in reception?’
Hi thank you for your comment. You definitely will not be disappointed with Cape Verde. In answer to your question, the hotel tax is €2.50 per person over the age of 16 per night. This is payable each night for a maximum of 10 nights. We paid it to the hotel on the night we arrived. Have a great holiday 😁
Hi, great review! We are heeading there on Thursday, so excited especially after watching your vid. Do you know what the vegan options were at all ? Thanks 😊
Thank you, you’re going to have a great holiday ☀️ None of our party are vegan so I can’t comment personally but I have heard through reviews etc that the choice for vegans is good. Enjoy your holiday 😊
At first, really great video and review. Thank you so much for that. Can you inform about the situation of gastrointestinal problems at this place? Do you habe recognized something like that?Have heard a lot about that in the past and am a little bit worrying as we plan to come in July with our 7 year old daughter.
Thank you for your feedback 😊 We were absolutely fine all holiday. The three of us ate all different food without any problems at all. I wasn’t aware of anyone discussing any sickness either. We had friends that were there the week before us and they were both fine too. I think like anywhere you need to be cautious but we honestly didn’t see/hear/feel any illness at all. You’ll have a great time 🏝️
NYE will be fab! Edgar Pires is the guy we used for our transfers. He was recommended to us by a friend and the service we received was great. I found him on Facebook and messaged him on there.
This is very helpful! I’m trying to decide which Riu hotel to book for our upcoming holiday. So many options but this seems very nice. Did you have to make extra payments for anything, like the drinks from the minibar, the restaurants aside from the buffet, maybe the spa? Are there any extra costs or is all included in the all in? Thank you in advance for your response! 😘
The restaurants and mini bar plus all poolside drinks and bar drinks were all included. You have to pay for any spa treatments, the treatment menu is available on the Riu app. You also get to use the spa pool etc when you visit for treatments. Hope that helps :)
Hi. Do you happen to know what times the childrens entertainment starts. We seem to go places that start from 8.30ish and after all day swimming my children never make it haha. Thanks x
Hi. What month did you go in? We are thinking about going in January. Will this be hot? Also do you need to tip everyone? We’ve been wanting to go Mexico but all the comments just say about tips. And I don’t want to go to an all inclusive hotel just to tip all the time? Thanks
We went in July 2023. The weather was perfect. I think the temperature/weather is pretty much the same all year round as the island sits on the equator. You do not need to tip at all, we took some extra euros and tipped our taxi driver and used the change we had left over to tip some of the waiters who looked after us well. It’s not expected at all but rather just appreciated. Hope that helps 😊
There is certainly kids entertainment earlier on in the evening. You can find what theme the entertainment is on the Riu app as each evening it changes 😊
Yes, they do. We didn’t use it but you can find out information on the Riu app. If you haven’t downloaded this already make sure you do. It’s brilliant and lets you know and request all services you want/need 😊
Hi, we didn’t have any vaccinations. I think there may be some that they recommend on Government sites but we didn’t feel the need to have any. Hope that helps 😊
Firstly, hope you have a wonderful time. The private transfer was arranged by Edgar Pires. I was recommended to him and found/contacted him on Facebook messenger. He arranged it all, I just had to give flight details. When we arrived, one of his colleagues was there to greet us and Edgar called us to welcome us to the island while we were in the car. It cost us €20 each way. Perfect service 👌🏼
Hi I can also recommend a local guy for local tours he usually is located by the beach and does tours and activities ie quad bikes, jet ski , zip line etc. His name is Bass and the tour guide name is John.
These senegalese beach vendors are annoying with their senegalese souvenirs that are not even souvenirs from cape verdean culture. I went to Paris and there too there was hundreds of senegalese souvenir vendors following me...annoying
