Yep agreed, one of the best out there.

Weight of gloves for training is generally for sizing and protection grading. Just as long as it fits your hand and provides the protection of a14 or 16oz glove then thats all that matters.

great review. Its so obvious this guy knows exactly what he's talking about. I personally like the Rival Rs11v but they are not as good quality as the real premium brands like Reyes and Winning. I think there are a lot of options around £100 which are better.

I like that glove a lot; The cross lace system is one of the few technical innovations from them I think was genuinely clever!

I recently bought these directly from Rival, and I thought I share my impression here, as Rival will not post reviews that are less than 5 stars on their site (obviously). Not even sure why they bother asking for the feedback, if they are not intended to post it. Anyway... I bought 16oz gloves, and initially they were so tight that I had to put tennis and golf balls in order to make some room for the hands. They are quite compact, which I like, but it's a bit difficult to make a good fist in them. Maybe it indeed make sense to go one size up, so maybe I should have bought 18oz, especially considering that mine weigh about 14.7oz. I thought they needed to be broken in, in order to fit better, so I used them on the bag, but even after a month of using them on the bag, they give me a lot of pain in the knuckles and especially in the wrists - so much that I had to take some time of the gym. I'm doing boxing for 7 years and my hands and wrists are generally well conditioned. I can work the heavy bag just wearing thin mittens, but not in these gloves. A few other things to note: 1) the thumb position feels great, but it's a bit protruding, and not as protected as in some other gloves, hitting an elbow can lead to an injury. 2) the padding is quite hard, it's actually very comparable to my Rival mexican bag gloves (which I love), maybe even slightly harder. I prefer softer gloves for sparring, in order to protect my sparring partner. For the same reason I don't by Reyes or any other mexican gloves for sparring, despite a very comfortable fit - they are great for the bag work, as well as for a fight, where you really want to hurt your opponent, but not for sparring. So, overall, despite great construction and material, I cannot recommend these gloves. I think there are much better sparring gloves out there, that cost same or even less.

How do you feel about Winning, Fly and 1V1?

Weigh the glove! I have seen another review of a Rival glove where they weighed it and it and the 14 ounce came in just over 12 ounces.

Interesting but at the end of the day they really need to fix that at RIVAL as its kind of misleading then

What other sparring gloves are compact like this rival rsv11? Rs11v doesn’t seem to be your favorite. What would you recommend for people who loves gloves smaller in hand compartment

I'm looking for Reyes bag gloves to replace my Reyes 18oz Velcro. Thinking bout these in 18, are they suitable for bag? And how would you compare with Reyes? Thanks

Hi FightstorePro!. I am a small boxer (1,68 mts and 62 Kg), for sparring I need a 16 Oz gloves, so I am looking for a smaller, light and compact gloves. Could you please tell me if this model RS11V is good for small boxers? Do you recommend another model? Thanks!

You could try Thai gloves. They generally have a smaller hand compartment. Fairtex are high quality and are known for being a little more on the snug side.

That material (microfibre) lasts forever, they're almost indestructible, pretty good stuff.
@FSPRO
@FSPRO 7 лет назад
Its all going to depend on whether you like the feel of it; I think it feels cheap for a glove that's well over £100 but it could be perception after years of using high quality leather

+FightstorePro the classic rival sparring gloves are made of leather, however the rs11 , RS1 (lace up gloves ) are microfibre . not a problem and good review

These are microfibre yes. But the RS1 (lace up gloves) are "1.0 mm full grain all-leather construction"

I think the RS11V is only China as its Synthetic. I can't really say too much here but unless it changed since I made the video (Which is possible of course) I believe the RS11V is only made in China. I could be wrong
