This is one of the games I could never get enough of as a kid! Such great game play with underpinned RPG style stats that young me never appreciated. Super Dodge Ball was a great time, but River City Ransom was the ultimate!
@VideoGames101
@VideoGames101 Месяц назад
Yeah it's a really cool niche between the action with a little light RPG mixed in to make it more interesting, not to mention the ability to pop into all the stores, get free smiles, etc.

Aside from this being a great game, I love that the soccer and volleyball entries in the series are also essentially beat 'em ups.

my favorite NES game, thank you. There's a iten is MAO's i think where you can get a very nice defense or strength cant remember for 3.50 and can easily max that stat out right off of where those two guys off the bridge also happen to drop 3.50 each. that is my go-to straight off the beginning usually. Acro-circus when your str is maxxed is probably the hardest single hit possible in the game.

That glitch where you can save your friend while they're flashing by leaving the screen. There's one like that in Friday the 13th that does the opposite, while fighting Jason on the path when Jason is flashing just before the "stronger than before / finally managed to defeat Jason" screen if you go through an entrance then next time you fight Jason his health is at 0 bars, then the first time you hit him Jason's health bars fill up to maximum health and stay there making Jason immortal.

Yet another one my my top 10 NES games. Still confused as to why the standard 1P is Alex, when it's Ryan's girlfriend that was kidnapped. I mean, I get it in the entire Kunio-kun sense, but the US had no0 knowledge of that back then when this came out. It always felt like the iron pipe hit harder than anything else while the chain felt like it had the best range but that might just be me. Never saw that final hidden Kunio easter egg! Also, poor Moose... never even got to show up and get his butt kicked.
@VideoGames101
@VideoGames101 Месяц назад
Yeah, it's a good question as to why it defaults to the FRIEND of the guy whose girlfriend was kidnapped. Also yeah I learned through this class that you don't even need to acknowledge Moose apparently.

So I guess Blaze also returned to class and became an honor student before joining your team? But in seriousness, I remember trading my copy of FF3 for SNES to a friend in the late 90s (as in, the N64 era, so SNES games were already old) for three of his NES games, this being one of them. Despite the high prices FF3 fetches these days, I don't regret it at all. I played the heck out of this, making a password so I could have maxed stats without the Texas boots so I'd free up that inventory slot for more techniques. My friend had gone even further, doing challenge runs like completing the game with nothing but Dragon Feet and all his stats at the base level. I don't think I could manage that one!
@VideoGames101
@VideoGames101 Месяц назад
Ha that would make sense as to how he got to the position he's in today. I LOVE Final Fantasy 3 (as does everyone who plays it basically) but yeah this is a great game. Yeah nothing but Dragon Feet can be tough, especially with no healing items. One bad moment from Randy or Andy can end things quickly.
@Ratralsis
@Ratralsis Месяц назад
@@VideoGames101 I'm sure he used health items, and I *think* his big trick was that he had a password that would re-lower his stats if he accidentally raised them, because I know he had a password of just Dragon Feet and nothing else written in the back of the manual when I got it from him. But yeah, it was still a crazy challenge that he said took him a lot of tries.

Grand Slam and a trashcan will get you through the whole game no problem. You'll probably need stone hands or dragon feet to get Grand slam though.
@VideoGames101
@VideoGames101 Месяц назад
Yeah Grand Slam plus any decent reach weapon is a winner, but yes considering the cost and the relative ease of getting Stone Hands or Dragon Feet after taking down just a few enemies at the start, it's a good early investment to unlock Grand Slam or any other strategy.

Acro Circus and Javalin Man are multiplayer moves mostly; you can use them to allow you to do somersaults through the air and contacting enemies does *kick* damage, whereas Javalin Man is a very powerful throw and allows you to railgun *any thrown object* and increase damage done by tossing your throwing damage times 2 onto the item's natural damage when thrown. Players are *a throwable object* which is where the duo come into play. If you jump ontop of another player you'll get "carried" by them, and are considered *A WEAPON* when swung. Here's where it gets *really good.* You can perform Mario Bros Superstar Saga level attacks. By *LITERALLY THROWING* your friend at enemies you can time attacks such as dragon kicks or pipe strikes; which are all combined *TOGETHER* with your damage from your attacks. Running and throwing seems to *DOUBLE* this further. This seems to double it again when you combine the aforementioned skills. The damage output is incredibly strong. It falls to pieces when you miss without Acro Circus, somersaults let chucked players "land" the throw which negates Friendly Fire (Bro Bodyslams? I don't know...)
@VideoGames101
@VideoGames101 Месяц назад
Ha that's true, I remember those epic toss attacks. And yeah with a plus one the strategy changes slightly since you can do thinks you can't solo, it really is one of the best two player games on the NES.
