River City: Rival Showdown (Switch) Review - An NES Classic Reborn 

I didn't realize I actually had a sealed copy of the 3DS version I bought years ago and never opened. From what I've seen in clips, it's a decent glow up on Switch.

What is the update on this - was the game worth it? How are the controls? are they snappy and punchy?

@@jordanrudek7925 I'm a massive fan of retro 2D pixel art-style and glad they kept the same aesthetic with wonderful recent River City Girls games :-)

Stick with the 3DS.

The Switch one is the definitive version, don't listen to him. The difficulty is slightly balanced, the addition of health bars and being able to change moves during a fight helps the pacing alot. The backgrounds are more clean and don't have the terrible glare that's used for the 3d effect. You'll enjoy the new version even more than the 3ds one, trust me on that. Cause I've reached level 99 and still haven't obtained any secret items that'll make the character stronger against tough enemies.

I went back this afternoon to check and it does not seem to have HD Rumble.

That's because the 3ds has two screens, so that's just comparing and contrasting the systems' capabilities and limitations. The switch and ps4 versions take off the glare filter from the 3ds original, which makes it better.
