River Farm Drop Tine Giant Sheds MATCHED UP, 34 Deer Antlers In One Day #hunting #deerhunting
The Midwest Whitetail team is back for the 2024 season and excitement is high for the upcoming off season ahead. First, Josh Sparks brings us up to speed on the team's future projects that will take place in the coming weeks, as well as a few tips if you're planning to get out and look for shed antlers on your property. Jumping into the action, Mike Reed and the guys set out on the River Farm looking to find cast antlers from multiple up and coming bucks. At the top of the list is the droptine side of the giant 4 year old Mike has named "Moss" with multiple great younger bucks as well. Covering over 10 miles throughout the day, the team finds multiple great antlers and makes yet another awesome set of memories. Finally, Mike joins Dillon Buline of Ax Outdoors for a discussion of the efficacy and impacts on the deer herd that the Ax One Complete Deer Feed has. They dive into the do's and dont's of supplemental feeding and the benefits that the feed can have on all members of the deer herd. We thank you as always for joining for another week of Midwest Whitetail, and be sure to let us know in the comments below what topics you would like us to dive into in the coming weeks!

Great stuff guys! I found my biggest shed this year and it was off one of my most elusive targets! I keep figuring him out more and more each year and thinking that I may have gotten him pinned down to the major area he’s using on the farm! Thanks for all the great info you guys provide, I credit you all for my first archery buck this last season!

Awesome episode. I don't see how the deer down here in Texas survive with the amount of corn they consume.
@MidwestWhitetailVideos
@MidwestWhitetailVideos 5 месяцев назад
Touching base with Dillion from AX he had this to say Ben… “Yes, if a ruminant animal is gradually worked up on corn intakes, they can handle higher amounts. However, even in controlled environments like cattle feedlots, you'll see disasters where a person mixed feed incorrectly just one day by a few pounds of corn per head and throw an entire herd into acidosis.” Assuming they are fed consistently through a year and that you also have a constant supply of whatever natural browse deer in Texas feed on, you might have more consistent PH values in the state of Texas compared to the seasonable changes in Iowa. A great question and as always thanks for watching!

Issac we're happy to hear you enjoyed the episode man. Hate to hear about that 167 you found... there's so many dang ways for them to go outside of hunting season! Is it a buck you knew well or what time of the year do you think he died? Love to hear the antler total though, that is awesome! Thanks again for taking the time to watch man!

Ryan we appreciate you reaching out and taking the time to watch! If you don't mind us asking, where at in the country are you located? Is this your cost + shipping from their website? Appreciate the insight!
@MidwestWhitetailVideos
@MidwestWhitetailVideos 5 месяцев назад
Ryan, we wanted to follow up here and let you know that TEMPORARILY, the guys at AX are offering a generous deal of FREE shipping on orders over 100$. Head on over to the website and get a few bags to try of your own, we really don't think you'll be disappointed. axoutdoors.com/collections/all Another thing to account for... while it's a touch more expensive than typical "deer corn" this also is something that has a "limiter" inside of it. Meaning deer will not just sit over the pile eating it until it's gone. Right now, I've got a two cameras with a 40lb bag in front of them and I placed those out on 2-13-24 and am still getting photos. For me, I'm simply trying to get trail cam photos to determine when the #1 buck sheds his antlers all the while I'm not offering the possibility of acidosis. We understand it's a little bit more $, but AX has made a genuine attempt at creating a product that helps not hurts the animals and I love to see their commitment to getting the stuff into folks hands. Hope this helps and thank you again for always supporting Midwest Whitetail Ryan!

what your opinions on putting in water holes i been seeing a lot of hunters doing it thinking about it here in north georgia
@MidwestWhitetailVideos
@MidwestWhitetailVideos 5 месяцев назад
Nelsonchandler1015, while I can't think of an example that is currently being utilized... we do have an upcoming segment from Zach Rozmus that will cover this topic precisely! Please see his comment below on why he's implementing a waterhole on "Area 52" this coming season. "Water, food, cover, space are all essential for wildlife to be thrive. Implementing a water source in an area that is lacking can provide sustenance to all forms of wildlife, not just deer. This can in turn increase your properties ability to hold deer because they may no longer have to look elsewhere for water. In my case, the area where the water hole/pond is now located was previously a ditch that had been filled with brush and cut trees from the previous landowner. By creating a water source I’m gaining all the elements i listed above while better utilizing acres that were otherwise going to waste. Since mine is on a larger scale, I’m also getting a return on my investment when it comes to land value. People love ponds and water. These types of features can increase land value while benefiting the natural resources." Hope this helps and we will be sure to keep this in mind for future topics outside of Zach's upcoming example. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

One more question how to make a bluff bedding area better if it's in the corner of a property
@stephenmanukas7601
@stephenmanukas7601 5 месяцев назад
So you'll let them find sheds on your property, but they can't hunt there?? Nice.....
@JoshSparksMW
@JoshSparksMW 5 месяцев назад
Stephen Manukas, not sure what the issue is there! Here in Iowa at least, I think it's a pretty common practice to go walk with good friends and have a great time attempting to pick up sheds. The antlers almost always stay with the owner unless it's a shared permission farm or public land. Regardless, we're all there on our own accord and appreciated the invite to share in what Mike's worked his ass off to build over the years. He owes us nothing for that and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we look very much forward to the next time we get to walk those woods! Hope you enjoyed the episode and I mean no ill intentions with the above message. Simply, I just want to clarify. Have a great week ahead!
@stephenmanukas7601
@stephenmanukas7601 5 месяцев назад
@@JoshSparksMWIt's just crazy how greedy and selfish hunters are. Nothing better than hunting with friends and hoping they kill the biggest buck on the property. But MWW is the opposite of that. Each has their own land / permission farms and don't share it with anyone. It's kind of sad. Owen even used his camera man's buck tag one year (maybe more years?), but didn't give that dude a chance to hunt. MWW is presented as a "team" but it's really the exact opposite. Mike killed the only buck Jared was hunting with a bow (2 yrs ago?), with a gun. Jared could have killed that buck multiple times with a gun. Guessing that is why Jared sold his part of the farm. Good friend's don't do stuff like that. It's pure greed and selfishness. And for what? Antlers? They are all going in a dumpster some day bc your kids won't give a crap about them. Maybe the "team" should actually start hunting together and hoping the other guys kill big deer? I know it's a wild thought...You guys could learn a LOT from The Hunting Public about what being a team really means.
