What happened...My throat got tight. The eyes starting blinking and then a tear rolled down my right cheek. A performance and as always with a great song right memories not forgotten mingle with the present. Wonderful Morgan... not to forgotten Roy Dunlop on piano.

He gets the intro all wrong. It's not one phrase three times, it's three phrases. That's not nit-picking. This is a Joni Mitchell song, she would never do anything so banal, so routine.

The line "I wish I had a river I could skate away on" is perhaps the most poetic words I can imagine. It is big, demanding, as if one single person can wish something that stupid. Can you see it, this tiny black figure skating on the ice of this BIG river, getting smaller and smaller?

I heard this song on New Year's Eve on the radio in Singapore just a few days ago and HAD to find this exact rendition on RU-vid (had to write down the lyrics quickly on a notepad lest I forgot, I was so possessed at the time by the singing). So glad I ran through all the different covers on-site to arrive at the finest one. What an extraordinary voice and what an ethereal performance. Fan at first listen.

I love Morgan as a great singer. But... This is not an interpretation. It's a straight up copy of Joni. I'm not throwing shade on Morgan as I enjoy this whole "Blue" Album she does. She sings as well as Joni did in her younger days. If it was an "interpretation" it would have a different twist on it. Very few singers have the vocal range Joni had in her day. Morgan does and I am actually glad she didn't interpret it differently.
