This. This has captured every reason why River Song is my favorite Doctor Who character, and my favorite companion. I love a good love story as much as the next person, but the Doctor and River? Beautiful and Tragic, and easily one of the greatest love stories in all the cosmos. As my sister says, it hurts so good. I miss River. I don’t think we’ll ever have as great a character as her again…

What's really amazing about this, besides the as always immaculate editing skills, is that every single word of this, across all that time and all those Doctors, was written by just one writer, Steven Moffat. He really doesn't get the credit he deserves in some quarters.

I like to think that somewhere during Heaven Sent/Hell Bent, the 12th Doctor realized 'This is how River felt when she knew I had to die.', and that gave him the strength to fight so hard for Clara.

I still miss her so much, she will always be my favorite Doctor Who character of all time! I so wish they could have found a way of either doing a spin off of her own adventures or figure out a way of her coming back to life somehow, maybe even just a River Song from an alternate universe, just as long as it was Alex Kingston playing her, that is! Alex is what made River Song so special, with of course the writing of Steven Moffat! I think I will always be grateful to Moffat just for bringing us River Song, if for nothing else!

Alex Kingston made this role. The only thing we missed was more of her with David Tennant. If her “echo” hadn’t been farewelled by 11, it would have been a great cameo in the current special with Donna and DT. But we can’t have it all!
