been catching a lot of pike recently near the bridge at kingston on the hampton court side and at end of august hooked in to something huge that swum up and down the river a bit then hugged the bottom and snapped the line, probably got its snout under something with an edge on it. All I know is it was huge and a few different anglers have said there is a big wels that hangs around the bridge area where I caught it.... Maybe next time I will land it :)
Does any of the estuary fish in the Thames which can be caught around Erith, Woolwich and Thamesmead be caught in West London, or is it too low in salinity? These fish include Flounder, Bass, Whiting, Grey Mullet, Eels and smelt
In order to preserve fish stocks serious anglers in the UK practice catch and release, we do not eat any fish caught. All fish are returned alive. There is a real problem with people taking fish from UK rivers to eat, so please don't do it.
Because some people work below minimum wage jobs, six days a week, in monotony, on substandard diet...you can see the temptation is huge...+ carp is national meal.
