Really hard to see the details of the pad you are writing on. Would have been more helpful with a zoomed in view of that board when you are showing examples.

I agree. Could Roy or someone figure out how to integrate the zoom view/green screen so that when a reviewer at The Dice Tower office does a review in which a zoom view would really be helpful, it is implemented. Just a thought!

Probably my explanations help you for the setting ;) I`d say, you got the 1 big steam boat and the players´ boats on their blocks are smaller dinghys for daytrips for which they try to sell tickets to the passengers of the steam boat. The heat, I always explain it as these people are easily freezing and you want to bring em an electric blanket or make sure on the trip there´s a fireplace where they could warm up. Really like this game!

Any advice on where to purchase this (in the US)? Publisher suggested Kolossal Games, but I don’t see it there.

I don't know. That box cover looks beautiful, and then there just these square cards and cardboard tokens that look like they competed for the most minimalist design. A game doesn't have to be great to look at, necessarily, but I wouldn't even consider paying over $20. (No idea what the retail is, so if it hits that, I might think about it.)

Exactly! I looove the cover! And then I see the game and the style is very different and for me, not so appealing. It’s not ugly, but the box is just so beautiful 🥺

Pretty sure those "ships" represent different decks on the same ship.

I just read the rules. They are "guide" (excursion) boats that depart the main ship when it's docked to take passengers to various locations. VERY thematic. Many ocean cruise ships can't actually dock at their ports of call and use excursion boats to ferry passengers to shore. Slightly different on river cruises, but the idea still fits and might be more familiar to people who have taken ocean cruises rather than river cruises. I've been on two Viking river cruises (expensive but bucket list) and every time they dock there are various excursions you can go on, either on foot or by motor coach, so these boats can be thought of as these tours.

Unfortunately I can only have so many "roll" and writes in my collection. Currently Welcome To, Silver & Gold and Cartographers are the winners, can't see this knocking them off. But thanks as always for the great review!

I wouldn't say they're all the same. Publishers do roll and write because it saves components. They're just one medium to deliver euros.

For me it's currently silver & gold and railroad ink. And regarding them being a medium for euros. No. They are all heavily input luck driven and relatively simple mechanics . Even "heavy" ones like Hadrians wall or Fleet (dice game) are medium Euro weight. And plenty of roll and writes are more akin to American designs then European.

You "can only have so many"???? Why? One big advantage I've found is that these type of games tend to come in smaller packages, which makes them easier to take with you. They don't make the table splash which draws people walking by, but they also set up quicker and don't seem so overwhelming when you pull them out in front of someone you're trying to teach.

I might be wrong, but I think it just is a limited resource. So you have to decide when you really need the aurora borealis or other top row die

The rules say they represent passengers who think it's too cold for excursions and want to stay on board. You can coax them to join an excursion by providing them with heat, but that's a limited resource for the voyage. When all of the heat spots are used up you can't coax any more of these reticent passengers. You have to mark off as many heat spots as the die selected and can't go over. So you have to carefully manage the remaining spots. If you leave too few the chances of getting to use them is small. You can only mark off 1 by using the green Aurora die.

Thanks for the review Zee. Not very appealing visually, and the rules seem too clunky for this type of game. I love Trails of Tucana, which seems far more approachable than this one.
