// Video Summary
Rivian's new R1 generation models promise enhanced features, better range, lower prices, and improved performance compared to their predecessors, setting new standards in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
The second-generation R1T and R1S come with a host of improvements that make them more attractive to potential buyers. These enhancements include significant upgrades in battery technology, driving performance, and autonomous capabilities. Rivian's commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in every aspect of these new models, making them a compelling choice for those looking to switch to electric vehicles.
One of the most notable upgrades in Rivian's second-generation R1 vehicles is the introduction of new battery pack options. These advancements aim to address one of the most critical factors for EV buyers: range.
The new R1T and R1S models offer impressive range capabilities, with the R1T boasting up to 420 miles on a single charge and the R1S providing up to 410 miles. This significant increase in range ensures that drivers can travel longer distances without the constant need for recharging, making these vehicles suitable for both everyday commutes and long road trips.
Introduction of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Batteries
Rivian is also introducing Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries in their lineup. These batteries are known for their longevity and cost efficiency. While they offer a slightly lower range of 270 miles, LFP batteries are more durable and have a longer lifespan, providing an excellent option for drivers who prioritize long-term reliability and lower maintenance costs.
Driving performance is another area where Rivian's second-generation R1 vehicles excel. The company has redesigned the suspension systems to offer enhanced comfort and off-road capability, ensuring a smooth ride regardless of the terrain.
Advanced Thermal Management System
Rivian has also introduced an advanced thermal management system that uses a heat pump to maintain optimal temperatures for the battery and drive train components. This system not only improves the efficiency and longevity of the vehicle but also enhances overall performance, particularly in extreme weather conditions.
For those who crave speed, Rivian's second-generation R1T is now the world's quickest truck, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and completing a quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. This level of performance is unprecedented in the truck segment and highlights Rivian's engineering prowess.
Rivian is at the forefront of autonomous driving technology, and the second-generation R1 vehicles come equipped with the updated Driver+ system, which offers a range of advanced features designed to enhance safety and convenience.
Enhanced Autonomous Driving Capabilities
The improved Driver+ system includes enhanced lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and automated lane changes.
Rivian's second-generation R1 vehicles also feature redesigned interiors that emphasize comfort, luxury, and cutting-edge technology.
In line with modern consumer demands, Rivian has added new entertainment options, including the ability to "cast" content and a built-in RU-vid app. These features ensure that passengers can stay entertained and connected, even on the go. There are also hints of a possible app store in the future, which would further expand the vehicle's capabilities and customization options.
One of the most exciting aspects of Rivian's second-generation R1 vehicles is the more accessible pricing. Despite the numerous upgrades and enhancements, Rivian has managed to lower the entry-level prices, making these vehicles more attainable for a broader audience.
The R1S now starts at $75,900, while the R1T starts at $69,900. This competitive pricing, combined with the vehicles' impressive features and performance, positions Rivian as a strong contender in the EV market.

Thats absolutely correct and the same thing I get when someone asks me what my truck is. I say Rivian, and they ask yea who makes that? I've had a few people who knew exactly what it is pull up next to me and give a lot of praise to it, so that is also a good sign.

6:19 Tesla used to have a feedback button, but it is now just a voice command, for example, verbiage from the model 3 manual: "You can also use voice commands to provide feedback to Tesla. Say "Report", "Feedback", or "Bug report" followed by brief comments. Model 3 takes a snapshot of its systems, including your current location, vehicle diagnostic data, and screen captures of the touchscreen. Tesla periodically reviews these notes and uses them to continue improving Model 3."

Lucid is soon offering their Gravity SUV, providing surprising efficiency (for this SUV class) and performance, and Tesla is also relatively economical, and certainly offers stellar performance with their Plaid models. So I think that Rivian does need to offer a halo SUV and pickup model with incredible performance, just to remain competitive. The key point for all of these performance EV SUVs is that they uniquely offer something that their gas powered performance SUV cannot compete against, and that is economical operation. You can out accelerate some supercars (at least to 100MPH) with these top Rivian models, but then you can also drive them normally with a lower operating cost than a Honda Civic. Which you can never say with a Ford Raptor!

One of the biggest misses is the significantly smaller vatteries for the standard and large pack. Yes they claim efficiency is up but im certain it wont translate all to the real world. Losing 13-20kwh is usable capacity is terrible.

Yellow accents are still there, tri motors on the R1 now adopt the yellow logo accents. Prior to that, you would need to buy the quad motors to get the yellow accents. But now for the quad motors, you get the new blue accents to show people you’re the big boss😎

Rivian is basically doing what they need to do to help grow their business. Sadly, I doubt the production changes will not save them enough cost on thierbl vehicles right now. Tesla, as well as others, usually go through a few vehicles before hitting the right mix to turn a profit. Glad they killed the portable speaker as a standard feature. Crazy how much is if you want to add it, but I am sure many owners have never used the portable speaker other than when showing it to friends. Not sure how buyers have been taken by the Kia EV9, but those wanting a true off-road capable SUV will likely go Rivian if they want an EV. I do think Rivian invested more into customer service, as in communications, than Tesla or Lucid. You might argue Tesla grew super quick, but given the Silcon Valley background of Tesla, customer service is often under funded by companies from there. Rivian was smart to offer a crazy fast package. It us the type of thing mainstream media loves covering. It is a great advertising tool. Hope Rivian keeps getting better and that they get their other models into production. More EV options is good for consumers.

Was hoping they would make some body changes, especially to the back end, to massively improve repairability. The insane cost of dealing with what should be minor body panel damage is crazy and is part of what makes insurance costs on these so stupid.

@@BenSullinsOfficial I don't have one yet, have been waiting for a v2 to seriously consider it which is why I'm very interested in the new announcement. Had insurance quote me late last year and it was closer to 200 a month (no marks on record) w/ 2M liability and $500 deductible. Who is your ins provider? Backend isn't just insurance though as the amount of time folks have been without their truck with what should have been minor repairs is also a notable concern.
@BenSullinsOfficial
@BenSullinsOfficial 2 месяца назад
2M liability?! I've never heard of a standard auto insurance policy that high so for $200/mo I think that's a steal. Rivian also offers their own insurance. I've been with Farmers for 20yrs.

I haven't found Tesla's GPS to be inaccurate about 99.9 percent of the time. It's based on Google Maps and so it appears to be as accurate as Google Maps, which is by far the best GPS system on the planet. I actually have found that Tesla's version of Google Maps is better than Google's version. One example is that Tesla's version provides your next two turns on the screen, and it lists your final destination. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was going to the right address and found out that, somehow, Google Maps had confused it with a different address. Because you don't see your end destination on Google Map's display, it's very hard to check what is going on. Tesla is the best GPS system I have ever used by far.

Woah, it’s very interesting to see very opposite opinion for same product. One of the biggest complain for tesla from me is map. I am very hard time to see map from tesla. I dont know how to explain, but it is very weirdly wrong,, I missed lots of exits with tesla map. I always had to use my google map or apple maps when i ‘really’ need gps.
@franklong6269
@franklong6269 Месяц назад
@@user-oc2ld9cv3y Hmmm, I have to question the validity of your comment because Tesla's GPS is Google Maps. It uses the exact same software but overlays the Tesla UI. Further, it is FAR easier to miss turns with Google Maps than Tesla's version of Google Maps because Tesla shows you your next two turns on the screen. Google Maps doesn't. I suspect you've never owned a Tesla.
