My main issue with long road trips in EVs is the extra time it takes due to charging. If I had extra days to burn, it wouldn't matter as much, but I generally don't want to add a day of driving because I have to wait for charging up. A trip across the country added more than 10 hours to my trip compared to the same exact trip the year before in an ICE vehicle.
Cool, I do a similar trip during the summer a few times, from Jupiter to Cedar Mtn.....but not (yet) in R1S or Y....for now in my Toyota Tundra, but looking forward to doing it in my EV, when I get one (soon)
Enjoyed the video! Would've been cool if you shared the Model Y efficiency, it would have been interesting to see the difference between truck and crossover.
Thanks very much for the VLOG! Wonderful detail! Question, Jose: Did you have any issue with the Rivian Nav selecting your preferred CPO: Tesla chargers (in addition to the RAN). I haven’t road-tripped yet in my R1S, but plan to next month. And I’ve been rehearsing my trip on the Nav in my vehicle and in the Rivian app. Both keep selecting non-preferred CPOs (e.g. EA, EVGo, FPL Evolution, etc.). Sounds like your experience is different. Please elaborate. Thanks!
Thanks! When I planned the trip in the vehicle I made sure to select Tesla and Rivian only as my preferred networks and that automatically adjusted where I needed to stop.
