The K-36s likely had either these whistles (the D&RGW and many other railroads, both domestic and abroad [Canadian and Japanese locomotives frequently have them as well], were quite fond of the Nathan 5 chime), or the mid-pitched hooter whistle frequently heard on K-27 #463 (probably the same whistle 463 carried in its own service years).
