You can see how the girl hes showing is taking pills and they are point plastic surgery instruments at her face. The song is talking about doing you, so its also showing the huge plastic surgery rates south korea has; the difficulty the youngsters face of being just them and not be dragged by their societal standards.

‘Do You’ isn’t about RM being cocky, he was facing a lot of criticism on being an idol at that time and was being boxed in. This song is expressing that he is not any genre but himself. He brought up those American Artists bc they changed the hiphop game from what it use to be. He is saying ‘if I am not hiphop bc I call myself an idol and wear makeup, then what about those other real hiphop artists that wear skirts and skinny jeans’ etc, are they not still hiphop? What he is trying to say is hiphop isn’t what you wear but what you can express, why can he not be considered hiphop when hiphop artist can do these things. Understand?

RM is talking about his identity as an artist and that he won’t allow others or himself to label him and stick him within the confines of a box, whether that be the “box” of being an idol or the “box” of being a hip hop artist Another large part of what he’s talking about is to those crusty ass old heads that tried it when they came for him becoming an idol back in the day 😂😂 that whole “skinny jean” section was him clapping back at those who ridiculed his fashion choices as an idol. Saying “just cause I’m wearing skinny jeans I’m not a rapper? Well then since you don’t wear skinny jeans does that make YOU more of a rapper than ppl who do wear them like A$AP and Kanye” The whole “RM” mixtape was **chefs kiss** 😘

The Message : You talked about the part of RM’s message where what you wear, etc. not making you better than another person, they may do something differently, not criticizing others, staying in your own lane etc. I felt like there was another half to the message. It’s also don’t compare yourself to others and think you are LESS because of those same things. That doing things like drugs or having surgery to fit in or feel better about yourself isn’t what you need. So looking down OR up at others = NOPE! It’s a great precursor to Love Yourself. PS loved how you picked up on this Persona & reminded folks this was a different era. PPS, Thanks for doing you! Y’all work well together & I really enjoy watching your videos. 💜🤟🏻

People used to criticize RM and judge him because he didn't "look" like your typical idol so they called him ugly etc. Then those in the hip hop and rap world made fun of him and the rest of the rap line for being in an idol group. You can see a small piece of that in the interview where BFree insults him and Suga, but others like him would say that because because of how he dressed and being an idol meant he wasn't a real rapper. There is also a video where RM is reading all these hate comments from people and he basically tells the audience to just wait he'll prove everyone wrong. Which he does. This video and Joke to me are really important because you see his versatility as a rapper as an artist in general and the way he plays with language and wordplay on top of his flow is really outstanding. I'm glad you guys finally got the chance to react to this. Thank you 💜

I think RM got the beat from this song called "aerosol can" you could even hear someone saying "major laser" in the background, which is the person who made the song. I mean i'm not completely sure but I think I'm right. If I am then props to rm for knowing that song, Its pretty good.

So happy to be part of the notification squad, even more so when I saw you were reacting to this! I don't just love this music video because it's an rm song, but I'm a film student and I want to film music videos for a living and this is one of the videos that inspired me to go into this field. I just love the black and white aesthetic and the mix of textures. It's so simple and lets you focus on the music, but it's not boring at the same time! Blaze would probably also really like the song RM did with wale called change. It's in all English.

😊 a lot of people are surprised when they hear that they swear, but they swear casually. Suga swears the most, I'm not sure if he still does- at least not in front of cameras. They used to tease him about it😁 because if you disturb his naps, it was lock-n-load time.

One of my favs. Still for me the most encouraging diss track vs haters and people who look down on others imo. He doesn't spit real hate or wish ill on others, just says "well you wanna confine yourself to a box and labels go ahead, that's doing you too. But I'm going my way and you'll eat my dust" with killer beat, flow, and video too. His fit and styling was sooo good here.

RM is also Nam-joon no matter what. At that time, Nam-joon was wondering who he was, an artist or an idol, everybody talked shit about him; rappers because he's an idol, kpop community because he's from a small company and "ugly" and the gp becasur they tought he can't rap at all. He did this mixtape to prove he can rap and knows what hip-hop is. Take a look at Zico, he was dissed left and right when he became an idol but didn't give a single fuck and proved himself but all RM was doing during that time is worrying about hate comments and critics. Rap Monster is Kim Nam-joon, RM is Kim Nam-joon, Runch Randa is also Kim Nam-joon, RM mixtape was done by Kim Nam-joon and Mono playlist is also done by Kim Nam-joon.

Namjoon deeply respects hip hop culture and always pays hommage to the artists he looked up to growing up. He's not jabbing at asap or kanye in any way. His point was basically saying how people would make fun of him being an idol and what he wore. So in his head, if i'm not considered hip hop for "wearing skinny jeans" than what about kanye and asap? Kanye is known for fashion and is a designer so why are people separating rm from hip hop? Because in the haters words: "he's an idol." This whole song is him basically saying let people do whatever the fuck they want. Let them dress the way they want, let them sing and rap the way they want, let them live however they choose. Do you.
