💙💙💙l had the privilege of being Mr. Pearts housekeeper many years ago.Neil and Jackie were so humble and sweet. Little Selena was so young 🤗She always wanted me to come upstairs to play in her beautiful bedroom. I remember opening the door to his "Game " room and cleaning all The Gold and Platinum Albums that lined the walls. At the end of the room sitting on a pedestal was his drum set in front of a huge window. Cleaning his beautiful office and the "Juno " awards sitting on the desk. He was a true gentleman who spoke so softly. Miss them all so dearly....love and Rip ....Neil ,Jackie and Selena. 🤗😘😍💙💙💖💕💖💕💖💕💙💙
Amazed that this first hand account has not been liked billions of times. Well, i heard you. What a privilege it was for you to have such a great boss.
I treasured every word you wrote, and thank you so much for sharing that!!! I didn't want your sentences to end, but it comforted me all the way reading your experience as a life long fan!! I have met Alex, and knew him through high school as his son went to the same school. He was a character beyond words, and I once met Neil's cousin, while I was reading Ghost Rider...out of the blew she saw me reading HIS book, and asked me what I thought of it! I told her how valuable that book was for anyone who had lost someone, irony, and when she told me who she was, it polarized me in that moment, one I never forgot!!! Last year, a friend of Neil's gave me one of his drum sticks. It was from a 2008 concert in Canada - I feel so honoured to have it, and the stories it could tell, only one could imagine.....
This man is probably the best drummers ever. I don't see a lot of drummers totally surrounded by drums and brings every one of them into play. Awesome shit. that's why i love RUSH songs......inspiring stuff. Thanks Neal.
joekoke1 Sign of a guy that MOVED one f*ckload of drums in his life! They'll hit everything because they moved it. Never trust guys that bring insane kits and use a 50th of it...
I think of all the Rush tunes that were such a big ..BIG part of my life growing up , and still are ! The powerful & beautifully written lyrics , the POWER of Geddy ,Alex & Neil ..unmatched! I acknowledge other bands , musicians & lyricists..but to me RUSH is #1 !
gotta love it ! been lucky enough to meet Alex & Geddy several times - but would love to pick his brain playing drums since 11 and since then and since caress of steel been a huge fan always thought pravokiung lyricsv - for example of " the cells tic away -/ the garden.
It's fun to see him come out of his self imposed shell, he is notoriously shy. I think one on one with a funny guy made it easier. Either way it's nice to see, the other two are such nuts.
Certainly wasn’t the greatest day on earth when we all heard the news. But heaven just welcomed a kind and extraordinary soul..RIP Neil, u r already missed. 😥
@@777sicilia With his Wife and daughter, Ride in the sky, Ghost rider. I would rather have toured with him by MOTO..than RUSH Band Tour. Sorry, i ride a TRIUMPH..but his BMW certainly outshines MINE!
Actually, that would be Alex. No one ever recognized Alex, even when he's sitting with the rest of the band. Everyone assumes he is one of the "stage crew".
He's the opposite. He says in at least one interview that he hates fans and their delusions about their relationship with him. He rarely meets and greets and basically ignores fans.
HowardTheDork This has been covered numerous times and probably best in the Rush:Beyond The Lighted Stage documentary by Geddy Lee. He doesn’t hate fans and he appreciates the accolades bestowed upon him by them. He doesn’t set out to be rude or mean. Geddy said he’s simply a very shy person and he’s just not comfortable being around people he doesn’t know. He’s actually a very humble person and just doesn’t get why people make such a big fuss about him. You could sum it up as social anxiety I suppose. The man himself talks about it in the clip below ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IlJ6udJLMKo.html
I just laughed, cried and air-drummed through this. What a cool, humble guy Neil was offstage, then he turned on this focused intensity when he drummed.
Oh ya, once he sat down on his drumkit, he was all business. That is serious commitment and discipline, even as a guest on someone's show. He never half-assed anything
Its great to see this amazing man come out of his shell at this point of his career and share his experiences. He's done more press in the last 5 years than in the rest of years Rush has been together combined!! Its great to see. He has a wealth of life lessons to share. Good and horrible..
Geddy wants to keep playing. He can't sing like the 70s but still real good. Neil wanted to come off road and spend time with wife and daughter. He is also battling being able to physically endure a tour as his drumming is exhausting. Alex has arthritic hands and is really starting to feel it. They are still open to doing fresh music and maybe an individual show every now and then. Hoping and praying.
One of the nicest guys in Rock. Top notch drummer and a great song writer. Neil could probably be great at any instrument he picked up. He just had a passion for the drums. RIP Professor. You will never be forgotten.
Even if someone isn't a huge Rush fan for whatever reason, it's safe to say that these guys were serious musicians with serious talent but remained down to earth, humble, regular guys throughout their career. No egomania running wild, just 3 guys working as a unit and putting out the best music they could. Thank you Rush, for everything !
@@rickleblanc8900 well said!! When I saw the "Exit Stage Left" album on Dvd, the song "Xanadu" blew my mind away because it sounded like 5 musicians. Neil Peart's drum set was like a king's throne.
i had the rare pleasure of meeting neil. while out riding. he is a real nice guy into bikes. and a great sence of humor. his books are a credit to humanity. just as a person looking past the drums. is as good of a person as an entertainer. i can say going thru a simular loss. he is a very strong indicidual
Here you dumb people go again calling him GOD. If he were GOD he wouldn't be dead. Why can't you honor him 4 all his hard work and tenacity at practicing until he became the perfection that he became?
mark paycer he considers himself a bleeding-heart libertarian. Although in his early adulthood was interested in writings the philosophies of Ayn Rand. Check out the lyrics of “Anthem”, which is strongly inspired by Ayn Rands philosophy of objectivism. Anyways, he’s one of my greatest hero’s, I’m still in shock from his passing. I already miss him. R.I.P. Neil Peart
I want to meet Neil so bad, and get behind that R30 kit!! I have a whole Rush room, drum kit which is based off of Neil's drum set, and pictures of him! Rush for FUCKING LIFE!!!
Really, its all opinion! Ever hear of Billy Cobham, Tony Roster, Dennis Chanbers? Oh and Neils hero Buddy Rich, Neil is extraordinary drummer , i like Rush , and hes great , but its all opinions. PS the groove Master Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave. Weckl, Terry Bozzio, Petruzzi, JoJo Mayer, etc. There are many drummer that are just as talented as Neil!
@Nick CostaI I agree. I saw Narada Michael Walden when he was with the Mahavishu Orchestra. Best I ever saw and I have seen TONS of them over the years...I am 66.
Even if you weren't a Rush fan, most of Canada will be for awhile. Same as how Gord Downeys death was for Canada. We lost another great beautiful musician to such a harsh disease
MorbidManMusic okay let's put it another way. A vast majority believe Neil Peart to be one of the best of all time. He is well above average. Millions of people don't think he's one of the greatest because he is average. Also he's in his fifties and has arthritis and what not. The dudes a machine and yes he's top 5 of all time. You can disagree all you want and say you have facts but again, it's not some magical unknown reason people consider him one of the greatest. it's because he's one of the greatest. I can appreciate your opinion but to say that he's "average" and not even top 1000? I only smoke top shelf. What the hell are you smoking? Is it a bandwagon thing? like lots of other people like him so you want to stand out and not be part of the train? come on guy. He's well above average. Top one percentile easily.
hydra xc is like to see this guys kit that can supposedly play Peart. Notice he didn't mention that the bigger the kit, the greater the degree of difficulty...wonder if there are any videos? Hmm.
He was such a MONSTER talent and yet just a down to earth , intelligent , articulate, very likeable guy it seems. Just listening to him explain something is interesting. What a loss to the world of music and the world in general.
When I was 4 years old ,I, nor my mother didn’t know why I was taking the pots out the cabinets and beating them with a spoon. My dad came to the rescue and got me my first drum set when I was 5. It was a Rogers kit. I wasn’t introduced to rush until i was about 12-13 years old. I Do remember thinking omg!! That’s IT!! I wanna play like that! Well I’ve earned the right over the years to say I come pretty close but there’s only one PEART!! And yes just like you RUSH is my favorite band of all time!!
