I'm glad you mentioned retinoid induced shiny skin - few weeks, maybe months after I started to use tretinoin, I noticed my skin remains shiny unless I mattify it on purpose. It kept me wondering what might be the cause and I think you just provided the answer. Mystery solved 😊
Byoma 🎉 lol I like the cleanser (tho prequel has edged it out of my top spot) and the moisturizer was nice to use in the summer. Can’t wait to hear about the rest.
The problem I have discovered with topical HA will provide hydration on a surface level, not deep within the skin, plus if there’s not enough moisture in the environment, it will take it from inside the deep layers of your skin. I personally favour glycerin as an effective treatment. Also too much Hyaluronic Acid can dry your skin by drawing moisture from wherever it can, including the deaper layers of your skin, as mentioned above.
Alice! So much good information in here, as always. You do so much research for us, and I really appreciate that. I have the RNE barrier repair serum and love it. but I haven’t tried anything else from RW. I’m kind of intrigued by the mist because I like the way it looked going on and it had a nice ingredients list. But other than that nothing else is really calling me. Your skin looks luminous!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole It does. I’ll be 69 in about a month and I’ve used tretinoin nightly for years from my forehead to the base of my chest, and from fingertips to elbows and I have dry skin to begin with. So this serum, along with fabulous moisturizers keeps my skin soft and hydrated.
Niacinamide can also cause problems when it's mixed with the following substances: Acids, including lactic acid, glycolic acid, and azelaic acid,Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) or derivatives like tetrahydrocurcuminoids, Retinoids, like retinoic acid and tretinoin Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), Folic acid, Benzoyl peroxide. Niacinamide skin side effect is similar to the reddening of the skin, but it occurs when niacinamide is used in high doses. It's caused by the dilation of blood vessels, and it can cause a burning or tingling sensation. Niacinamide skincare products can sometimes cause breakouts in people who are acne-prone. So try and keep to 3-5% only and that should give you benefits without problems. I don’t know how mixing niacin products with different amounts affects your skin.

OOOHHH is THAT what it is!?! I did the classic skincare fanatic thing of starting a couple different products within a few weeks of each other, and I couldn’t figure out what was making my skin SO SHINEY! I started using Differin adapolene gel at night instead of cosmetic retinoids, and suddenly when I would oil cleanse my naked face in the morning, I could feel my pores purging all kinds of gunk 🥴 It’s gotta be the increased cell turnover! I feel like a juicy lil plum lol

I’ve been using the RNW ceramide serum off your recommendation previously ( I think) and I’m on my second bottle! I pushed it to the side at first, then I damaged my barrier and it healed it in 5 days! Now I will always have it in my cabinet. I wish they made a bigger size. I feel like I flew threw it.
The first serum and mist look interesting for my skin type. Have you seen that three ships has a vitamin c and caffeine eye serum? The vitamin c is from acerola cherries. Speaking of hypochlorous acid spray, the budget dermatologist was saying she uses the briotech one after she cleans her skin on her eyelids before applying her eye serum and sunscreen.
I started using the RNW Der ceramide serum after I saw you first review it. I do like it, But since then I've found I like the Torriden solid in ceramide serum/essence much more. I was tempted to try more from RNW , like the cream and mist, but the Torriden ceramide cream has also become a favorite. , it's so nice. I also have the AmpleN ceramide shot, which I use as a light moisturizer or extra layers when I need it. Have you tried any of the AmpleN products? Like their peptide shot and others? I've only used the ceramide one.
Torriden’s ceramide line is such a hit (actually the whole brand as I really like the dive in and balancing serums too!) yep I tried the OG ample:n peptide serum. I really should try the 2x as I hear it’s unscented, which was the biggest drawback to me with the 1x: it’s HEAVILY scented!
@@emmagal14 having normal, sometimes dry skin, I'm not sure. But I do find the serum to be very hydrating. It sinks in well but the skin feels hydrated. But I usually top it with other products so I'm not sure how it would be on its own. I like the cream because I can use it in the day time also. I can't stand the feel of product on my face during the day, because it feels like I sweat under it, but I don't get that with the Torriden ceramide cream. I use less than at night but it just seems to sink in without being greasy or leaving a film. So it could be good for you. I have also tried the tocobo ceramide cream, and it feels like it melts when you apply it but then it feels slightly matte when it dries. It's also very good. No heavy greasy product left. Just hydrated, moisturized skin. I'd choose either one of them. Hope I made sense.
Hi Alice. Yes, I agree with you on the ceramide and 4-terpineol serum. They helped with those who suffer dry acne prone skin but I have resort to other brands to cut down cost of skincare. For ceramide, I prefer the cost effective iUnik noni serum and I used a dryer bi-phase terpineol serum from Chiyou to combat acne. 😅 The other products from RNW are okay but I prefer the fast acting serums to prevent hyperpigmentation from taking place. I have enough acne scars to last me for months.. 😭 As for the ceramide cream, I can say I turned it down due to the allergens of lavender oil...

I'm curious about the new byoma barrier repair treatment. But I don't think it's a moisturizer or a moisturizer texture. I have a feeling it's gonna be more like a healing ointment texture. Which would be why they called it a treatment instead of a moisturizer.

I have mixed feelings about alcohol bc I have dry skin. However,I know it can Penetrate more of the other ingredients in your face. I think if theres not a lot in the product it's okay. I respect ur opinion too.
Aw man I was really hoping to hear about the shining toner or the Der moist toner! I just bought the shining one. These toners are both so jam packed with good ingredients. Also Alice, I want to try the terpinol ampoule but it has algae extracts in it which are known to be pore clogging, ironic in a product like this. Has this ingredient never impacted you?
Nope, my acne is caused by hormones or irritation vs pore clogging. And funny enough, my skin LOVES algae ingredients! I feel that’s another part of the skincare conversation that adds a ton more nuance: sadly there isn’t a universal list of ingredients that cause breakouts (although some people find the comedogenicy scale does help guide them!)

A few random comments (now that they have been turned on): I think I sent you your first RNW serum! I finished the Alpyn Beauty Barrier Cream and it was a huge disappointment. Eadem’s moisturizer is the same price and a superior product. I got an order from Prequel. Tried to return one item and the customer service is abominable. Will not order from them again. Eagerly awaiting a mouse update.❤

I am the same way about this brand and almost all brands I love a few and the rest is fine . I tried every serum the essence and the miccalar water from this brand and I absolutely love the Ceramide serum and I really liked the miccalar water idk if it was the packaging or the formula 😂 the rest was fine. Have u ever tried anything from Josh Rosebrookes line. I want u to try that Neich beauty I heard their is so many great things from them it's kinda like a European Niod 2 different names under the company with different types of products. The Azalacic acid serum , cooler peptides and the peptide serum are on my list. What they changed the Makeup remover??? It's not the same ingredients list at all and it doesn't have the pump top anymore well they suck. They also added fragrance to it they totally ruined it 😢
Everything I've tried from RNW has remained fine. The ceramide complex is even "good" maybe, but it's surrounded by too many "greats" imo. I will say if I had oilier skin I'd probably like it a lot more given how many of the great barrier products are far creamier. My review of the cream is the same as the rest of the products, not bad not amazing. Overall basic, non-offensive texture w/o too much moisture or occlusion. Totally unrelated to the video, but I'd love a video discussing mixing products. I was getting ready to toss away a calming gel wash off mask for not being occlusive enough and decided to mix it with the Peach Slices Snail Mucin Face mask that is MUCH too occlusive for me. Neither of these products have potent actives and overall I was happy with the end result. Even if it was just for kicks trying to make mixes work (dot of gel moisturizer with a bit of scent mixed with dot of biossance cream to see if it's makes a more cosmetically elegant product). I know the suggestion will make at least some people's heads spin, but I don't see much harm especially if you mix products w/o sensitive or active ingredients and mix outside of the containers (palm of your hand mixing). I think the act of mixing, especially for textural or sensorial experience can make you better understand your personal preferences.
I completely agree, mixing is a brilliant idea and has very few drawbacks when it’s done in the palm of your hand. It’s essentially drunk elephant’s “smoothie” idea except not limited to one brand by any means haha! Side note but that’s such a good call with the peach slices mask. Oh how I know what you mean about it being too occlusive lol!
I have just used that Ceramide serum, as that seemed to be the one everyone was talking about. I was keen to try the niacinamide serum, pity it has alcohol, not good for my dry skin. I plan on buying the ceramide mist as I always use mists and go through them quickly, loved the holika holika and Abib face mists. I was going to get the cream, it has been in my faves list but pity it broke you out, I probably won't get it as I don't want to take the risk

Well, my favorite brightening product is SK-II. In all truth, it cleared up hyperpigmentation that I did have and…so now I don’t have it anymore lol. It’s pricey but stylevana does have the best deals on it For something more affordable, I’d say my favorite dupe of it is still the IOPE bio essence. There’s quite a few far more affordable dupes that also claim to brighten, and they do seem to work well for many (cosrx galactomyces, neogen real ferment, Missha time revolution) Basically, with your description, I’d look for galactomyces or saccharomyces products. Hope that helps!

@@tanujadehury4716the I'm From Rice Toner is a lovely product but it doesn't have any galactomyces or fermented products, so I don't think it would necessarily have an effect on dark spots (it does contain niacinamide I think though). It's more for general healthy brighter skin, rather than fading hyperpigmentation. If you're looking for that, I've heard good thinks about the Numbuzin 5+ line, so you could look into that
Would you consider the Ceramide Concentrate good for barrier support and well aging, or do you think there's a better option? I’m glad to hear you like the channel name! I came up with it in grad school for the exact reason you described lol It’s hard to say it’s the best option as there are quite a few stellar repair products, but I’d say I like the versatility of it. For example, Stratia’s Lipid Gold remains my favorite, but I still reserve it for night use at it makes my skin look a bit yellow (fair skin problems, most likely lol). Whereas this can be used day, night, with any product, etc!

Hello Alice, I am very interested in trying a repair serum, because my face can no longer handle any sunscreen, whatever it may be. So I'm only going out when the sun has disappeared. But my strategy is to try everything that repairs my skin, but there are so many that I don't know which one to choose and I am between Skin&lab, the one from RNW, the essence of Torriden, the one from Tir Tir or the one from SKin 1004, the Probiocentella, but I still don't know and I would like to ask you which one you think is best for mature and dry skin. Ranking them by “heavy” feel (since you say you have dry skin): TIRTIR milk ampoule (oily skin might hate it!!) > skin1004 probio > torriden/rnw (these tie in texture, torriden is a better value but I’d say rnw has a slight edgy in efficacy) By results, RNW has done the most for me, but bear in mind this is my 3rd bottle so of course it has haha Tbh I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them, but the texture might impact perception. For example, I fell in love with the Tirtir (can’t wait to review the brand, goodness!!) but it’s so heavy that I’m only using it at night. I hope that helps? I prefer to compare vs outright state my favorites, but if you haven’t gathered, yes my two favs from your list are RNW and tirtir 😃
Hello Alice - I have not tried anything from RNW - but I do love a good mister (currently using Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Mist) - I love all of the lines from Pyunkang Yul - their Black Tea Eye Patches are a definite non negotiable for me (actually using the whole Black Tea line right now). I used to have quite a few products from Glow Recipe in my routine - but over them now for many reasons - I still like them, but over them. But, I had a strange reaction to the Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment - I woke up with a patch under my eye that was raised, red and very irritated - never had a reaction like that before - so wondering what could I have reacted to? Those black tea eye patches are so good. I finished my second tub and am trying to use up the other patches I have but oof, I miss the PY! Oooh I’m not sure, but I’d probably try to keep that away from your undereyes? I think it might be too strong for that area! (Definitely would be for me!) Can RNW ceramide serum be used with retinol,arbutin,kojic acid,ascorbic acid? Because I heard copper peptide is not compatible with retinol and ascorbic acid?

I want to do youtube and share how to take care of ur skin, however I don't want to put my skin in harms way either.
It kind of does feel like worlds merging! I think I like it as k-beauty is still staying in a more affordable range vs western Meanwhile, funny enough, the slightly more expensive k-beauty brands seem to be sticking with Hanbang/Korean approaches (Chogongjin, Sum37 etc)
My skin is currently freaking out a bit because I underestimated a cosmetic retinoid compared to the Differin adapolene gel I’d been using 😅 Thankfully, I think because I’d been using the RNW ceramide serum nightly, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been! And now I’m using it morning and night to help my skin bounce back 😊 and you don’t need very much of it either it just has so much slip! I’m curious about the 4-terpinol serum, but I wouldn’t consider myself “acne prone,” so much as I get congested pores with the occasional breakout in my butterfly/T-zone. Would you say it’s worth a try?
