From a dude who's struggled with acne for many years I can't express how much courage this video gives me. Weird to say, but I feel proud af on your behalf for not only filming this video, but editing it and posting it for the world to see - especially since this world, sadly, has such harsh views on acne and thus the people that live with this kind of skin condition. You truely are an inspiration, never let anyone or anything get in the way of your goals - keep rocking it!

FAQs: - I washed my hands before filming each clip so I could feel for any changes. - You must be prescribed Roaccutane by a dermatologist. I am not recommending everyone to take this medication. Ask your doctor to refer you. - If you are female, you must be on some form of birth control when taking roaccutane. - I took 20mg per day for the first month, 40mg per day for the second month, and 60mg per day for the third and subsequent months. Treatment dosage and length is worked out by your dermatologist based on the severity of your acne, your height/weight and may be reduced if you get bad side effects. - My acne was genetic. I had already tried everything you might feel like I should have tried: changing my diet, changing washing powders, changing skincare, celery juice, aloe vera etc. For those of you who can cure your acne by drinking more water, that's great! For most of us, we have the best skincare and diets out there - you can't change your genes. - Similarly, makeup doesn't cause acne IF YOU REMOVE IT PROPERLY. Going through isotretinoin treatment was the best decision I've made for my skin. I suffered from chronic acne for over a decade and this drug definitely cleared up my skin. I still have the scarring and texture left but I couldn't be happier with where my skin is in now. It's tough but it's all worth it. Thank you for sharing this. Much love xx

To anyone who is facing acne and is planning to go on accutane or is already on it. Heyy beautiful I know its really hard. I am 4 months on accutane and i had not felt this happy in a long time. The purging has finally stopped. I still have acne scars but they seem to be fading with time. I was having mild persistent acne but it was only getting worse even when i got topical creams from dermatologist. I used to cry everyday and never go out without a mask if i had to. I never took off my mask because i was so insecure. Acne led my life and controlled my desicions. I recently completed high school and my friends would want to meet and i did not want to go out. I had really bad purging. I was so terrified with how bad it got. I would keep on watching others journey on accutane to console myself and it will get better. Then there was a farewell program in my high school and i wanted to go but i was feeling so ugly, i didnt want any of my classmates to see me. I cried for a week straight daily because i felt so ugly. I put makeup on to cover it but as i had never done makeup my whole life . I looked horrendous (hideous). There arent any nice pictures and i just look ugly. The first 2 months on accutane was really bad. I eould not stop purging. Its been like a week or so since it stopped otherwise the acne would come repeatedly and cover my whole face. Now i feel so much more confident than i was 4 months back. Hopefully you will be just fine and happy and enjoy your clear skin

the most anoying thing about my acne right now are the red marks and scars like i don't have any active acne right now but those red marks are all over my face, upper back and chest.

I literally just started Accutane/Roaccutane/Oratane 2 days ago. I teared up while watching this video. while I have never struggled with severe acne , i have always had issues with my skin (pimples, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, flakey skin, dehydration...) and it absolutely destroyed my self esteem. I started breaking out in february and it's been getting worse and it makes my life so so hard. this is the first time i've had legit acne and i just can't get over how gross i feel and look. i have breakdowns and tantrums, i'm unable to look at my reflection. I just want to have clear skin for once but that seems like an unattainable goal. I can't go outside without wearing a mask or covering up with a scarf. sorry for ranting, i just wanted to let it all out somewhere :(

When I was 20 I had to go on Roaccutane as my acne was really bad, even though the drug has some bad side effects, it really helped. 20 years later, never had an out break again, in fact rarely get a pimple now. I hope you never have an out break and due to oily skin as a teen you'll probably have youthful looking skin for a long time:). I had facial scrubs and peals (from a professional) for several months after for scarring and today people don't believe that I had acne cause I have very little to no scaring, (Just a tip, but check with your dermatologist) just a little on my jaw but you have to look hard, and I can't grow facial hair there. I did accutane for 2 years , it cleared up my acne. But it came back all of a sudden , after 2 years of me getting off accutane. But I did not go back to it because of the side effects, i looked into my diet, specifically my favourite foods, it turns out i am allergic to the chemicals, flavouring, and hormones in my favourite food and the food that i have access to ( covenience) . So i think it's better to look into your diet , get rid of fast food, dairy, processed food and stay hydrated. Hydration is important too for repairing your skin barrier and healing the acne. Well not to say dont go for accutance , but i am feeling the side effects now, it's really bad for the liver and kidney, but luckily i did not go for a higher dosage. So look into diet, lifestyle and your habits, it will shed some light on the causes. Even healthy food can be the source of your acne, because we dont really have complete knowledge on how the food is being produced or manufactured. Sorry about the long muttering, hope my experience is informative.

Gorgeous girl. To really help your skin regenerate quickly I recommend the French brand La-Roche Posay , the gel is called Cicaplast and it is absolutely amazing. I used it after my skin problems cleared up and it did wonders for the scars and the pigmentation.

i’ve been dealing with acne since 3rd grade and i had used so many serums, gels etc. and i’ve started taking roaccutane in 6th grade. since i was so little i’ve only taken 20mg. i’ve done everything necessary during the roaccutane medication. it was successful. but when i became 8th grade, my acne came back. and it was worse than ever. now i’m in 10th grade and i’m still dealing with acne and acne scars. my acnes are not as much as when i was in 8th grade but i’m still insecure about them. and i’ve lots of dark spots because of the past acnes. my point is roaccutane isn’t always the solution. so don’t put pressure on yourself if it doesn’t work. you are beautiful the way you are.

You Really did a great job.. Even with acne your confidence was really good.. People have to learn these things from you..

So brave mate for documenting your journey. I tried everything, my acne was so severe, so painful, I couldn’t look people in the eye and didn’t want to leave home. This was a last resort for me and it worked, although it’s not an overnight cure after one year my skin was clear and my scars were barely visible. This is a very strong medication though and should not be taken lightly. I had a lot of very severe side effects which people need to be aware of .

I remember when I was a 5th grader, middle schoolers came to my school to talk about what it's like to be a middle schooler and what to expect. There was a girl who I remember had acne and I thought she looked so pretty and this applied to anyone I saw who had acne. I just wished i told her she looked so pretty because that wouldve helped her confidence and either way it was true. If a person 1 grade lower than me told me I looked beautiful i would be so happy. I'm to the point where my face kinda hurts and I know it's because i pick at it (its difficult for me to control myself) and I sometimes eat like crap. I'm trying to fix it but yeah.

I am currently on accutane (4 months), the first two months were okay but since the third month I had a major breakout and it is still not going away. you're brave and beautiful. Acnes is so hard to live with, I had accutane too and it changed my life. For your acnes scar I recommend the peeling AHA from Ordinary and there Niamicide solution it helps. There are probably other brand doing that too check it out ;)
