This is an old video now, but as someone who has broken their neck and was incredibly fortunate enough to not be paralysed, Martyn is huge inspiration. Astounding skill, astounding enthusiasm and passion for cycling, and an astounding positivity despite such a life-altering injury. Hoping the past 6 years have brought some great opportunities!

Same. I knew that the guy that did road bike party had been paralyzed but did not realise it was martyn. As someone who broke my back in 2009(fortunately not paralysed) he is a huge inspiration to get back on my bike.

Medical science is moving fast on spinal injury so i can see this guy back walking one day. There was an Australian guy who went from a wheelchair to walking recently, doctors said it would never happen.

Martyn, you're a genious, an amazing person! Remember my face when I saw what you DO WITH YOUR BIKE!!!?! I was so dammit shocked and said that time ''girl, here we go!''. You inspired so many people including me, doing all those crazy things again and again. I'm so sorry, so dammit sorry this crash has happened in your life. But it won't ever break you down, I know, we all know. You still doing all those crazy things on two wheels! We are so proud of you, you even can't imagine. I still don't know how is that possible to jump everywhere like you, but haha maybe with years of practice will show up? :) Thank you so much for everything. We won't let you down!

Hi Martyn, I Had a crash on 2015 resulting on seven broken bones on my spine, just one milimeter away from marrow split at T6... three months with an orthopedic device but no damage at all thanks to god. Once I meet your story realized how lucky I am and how important is inner strenght. Thanks for what you've teach us

Shite.....I must have been living on the moon not to have heard of your crash...Only this weekend I was showing my grandson (6) your videos as he's just learned to ride...Now he wants a stunt bike...I am so shocked but glad that you can still inspire people with your skills. Hope that Wings for Life can research and find a cure for you and all the other people who are wheelchair users. Whatever happens in the future....Your still the man.

Martyn was the biggest insperation in my life for biking since the age of 14....I am now 32 with kids now and see the way the sport has grown and saw how Martyn moved with it becomming in my eyes the best rider in the trials world :) I am gutted and broken hearted that he has now a chair but its not that bad as he is still alive, My biggest momet was when i got to have my photo taken at MBUK event at blackpool pier a little over 15 years ago watching him and another rider called ian but cant thik of his second name though ...... on there trailor rigs and also riding on the back of the pier with local youths, i was amazed :) :) :) you were on your blue cannondale with fatty r fork :) he shook my hands and said to keep at it as one day youll look back and think of how you over came the struggle to learn the stuff you want to............. So in return Martyn i wish you the best of look and one day in the near future you yourself will look back on the chair and be glad you went through the struggle to get out of it :) Even to this day im still watching your dvd's for tricks and street riding :) so hugs and handshakes sent your way buddy :)

I saw this after having seen RBP2 a couple times. This video should have the same count on the views and THUMBS UP as the road bike party 2 video itself. It (the content of the video) and Martyn (and the other guys) all are what has been said by those who commented positively ... inspirational, hero, etc. For sports, medical care and research. Martyn Ashton was the person that got me into trails riding, I can still remember watching the video of tricks and stunts back in the 90's with my jaw on the floor watching him do what he did best then me and my friends would pause the video, go outside and try and do what we had just seen. Granted we practiced off curbs but we'd get there in the end and its all down to you and Martin Hawyes. Your my trials hero.

I felt huge emotion when I saw RB1 and RB2 and this video too, (I went and built a trials bike and I've transferred a few tricks to my road bike). I love the work you've done, it makes me want to get on my bike immediately and be a better rider. I can only imagine how you feel when times get dark, but whether you're in a chair or on a bike you're an inspiration to us all, please keep on doing what you do.

Martyn just seems like such a genuinely lovely guy. Great bike rider - he will always be remembered as one of the trials greats. His accident is hugely unfortunate but with such a positive outlook and great personality I'm sure he'll go on to have a great deal of success at whatever he chooses to do from here on out :)

This was awesome. An amazing show of a super skilled community coming together to help a mate. Best wishes Martyn for your ongoing recovery/adaption. My son did a school project on Alex Zanardi recently, he was so inspired by what he had done from motor racing to handbike in the Olympics.
