You’re right about a suspension upgrade. It’s a lot of money - but wow, suddenly the ride is like an expensive motorcycle! Your pillions will love it too.
I did all those changes but went a different direction. The ST is supposed to be a more performance oriented bagger as opposed to the road glide special. I opted for more racing style products like tbars, 2into1 exhaust, front and rear suspension and LEDs all around.
Great video. Another must do is the External Breather System for an M8. Added mine Monday and you wouldn’t believe what it’s catching already. That stuff is being blown directly back in to the engine as directed by the EPA.
I’ll show you what it’s pulling out of there and you’ll want to do it right away. A friend of mine is making mounts for the catch can. I’ll show you that to.
I bought the kit from DK Customs for $130 ish and the mount for the can was custom made but I think he’s going to starts selling them. I wouldn’t say it’s easy to do but it’s not terribly hard either.
Top 5 upgrades are the same on every HD. Bars, Suspension, Seat, Exhaust, Lighted control switches. Its sad when a cheap ass Chinese Amazon seat is better than a HD seat on a $34K bike.
Great upgrades Bob. I've never done bars and not sure that I ever will. Shocks are a great upgrade to consider but as you mentioned it's not inexpensive. At least for the specials is a huge improvement in Ride comfort. Ride safe. 👊👍🇺🇸
I always question the term "upgrade" relative to motorcycles. Perhaps it should be "different grade". Most "upgrades" provide no actual performance gains unless you want to quantify style or noise. Once you started talking suspension, I began to get onboard. Atleast that gives you better traction which helps you put more power to the ground as well as provide more comfort for long rides. I'd always suggest people start with suspension first (especially on touring models) and then go from there if so inclined. The front end can be improved significantly with different springs and ricor intiminators for fairly cheap. I've just installed bitubo shocks on the rear and have been impressed thus far with the performance for how inexpensive they are. I prefer a firm suspension that follows the road and dampens all that floaty feeling though. Basically, absorb the bump without bottoming and then extend back to resting sag postion without overextending past it. To each their own I suppose.
Yeah, to each his own and you're right about suspension. Most people make the mistake of only doing the rear shocks. If you're gonna do it, do the front as well!
Great video I definitely follow same upgrade pattern and happy to report bike starts feel like mine finally. I have 3rd set of floorboards before I found what I like. How do you like these mirrors like that? Do Revo’s bro it is awesome upgrade
I bought an Road Glide ST ! I don’t mind the seat! But I think the biggest upgrade I wanna do other than the obvious exhaust and shit! Is a cam upgrade!! Stage 2 would really pep this sob up! I have a Street Glide special with a stage 3 and it moves! I love the 117 engine! So I think with the St the cam is we’re it’s at!
Congrats on the ST. I absolutely love mine. The stock cam is the Screaming Eagle performance cam, which is an upgrade over the base and special models. An S&S cam, or other aftermarket cam will probably make a nice difference. Have fun with it and ride safe!
How tall are you? And how did you decide between 12 & 14” bars without trying both out first😅 Had 12”apes on my old dyna but everyone seems to go the 14” with the road glides, wondering whats easier on the shoulders for long day rides
I'm 5' 11. I tried out the 12 inch bars and loved them. I think the 14s are too high. I've had 14s on previous bikes. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
I had Legends on my Roadglide CVO that I traded on Mt Streetglide ST and I like the ST is a little more firm however I find it better for my riding style. The ST suspension is actually very good.
