Have you had any problems with the suspension travel making the fender contact the trees or down tubes? I had a performance shop tell me I needed to rake out the forks, change the fender, and change the tube cans. $6,000.00+. I think they’re bullshit, but I’d love to hear from experience.

It’s been a year so idk if you did it yet ,but yes the shop is full of shit. I’ve had a 21 on my 2007 Road King for 7 years. The fender riser is kind of optional as it makes it easier. Some people are able to leave the fender alone all together. I put mine on and the tire cleared the fender. I rode it for months before I encountered an issue. Tires grow in circumference with speed (centrifugal force) and heat (rolling resistance and road temp) and the tire rubbed on the back side of the fender causing the paint to bubble where the center of the tire rubbed, and that was just a 15 minute ride that I’ve done many times before on that setup. I drilled the fender mounting holes out a bit bigger. By doing this you can raise the fender just slightly and rotate the rear of the fender up and out of the way of the tire. Others have done this too not just me. It sounds like it would look goofy but you literally can’t tell at all. It’s very little up and rotated. You basically gain a max of 1/8-3/16 of additional clearance which is plenty. Other than that there is no need for trees or anything. Rides and tracks fine, fender doesn’t hit anything. Keep in mind this was my situation. Tire size always varies between manufacturers. One tire may have been shorter and I wouldn’t have needed to do what I did and another may be taller to where I may have needed a riser, because even just an 1/8” can make or break it. I watched this vid because I’m getting a new set of wheels and debating on going with an 18 rear this or not. I like the idea of seeing more wheel but I also like seeing a fat white wall back there. Can’t have your cake and eat it too I guess😂
