I have a few questions about the Power Grid (PG) and its wiring if you don't mind. A buddy gave me a Power Grid to wire up for him because he couldn't figure it out. I don't know the PG, but I know wiring. What triggers the PG to operate the output - burn-out, launch, shift light, etc? I can terminate the loose wires to a bus, but I don't know what tells the PG to trigger everything else. Do any of the loose wires require a relay? It looks like yours go straight to a bus and then out to the "accessories". Does the 12v ignition (red wire) go through a relay? 12v constant to 30, keyed/switched/ingnition power to 86, and PG red wire to 87? Thanks
No relay for the red power wire. Output wires go direct to whatever you are powering on. Shift light, launch etc. Electric shifter will need a relay, I use the shift light output wire for that, yellow I think. All outputs are programmed with the laptop. If you don't have instructions they are on MSD website.
I have recently installed a power grid 7 ignition system with a crank trigger and all of the wiring diagrams show a capacitor wired in the system. Do you need the capacitor to get fire to the engine because I'm getting no fire to my ignition coil?
