My family has owned a 2013 Ford Escape SE 2.0L since new and I have to say, it's a wonderful vehicle. I've had no problems that were the cars fault (Dead battery cause we left a cooler plugged in, minor fender bender). I'm at nearly 160,000km and it's still running beautifully, even when everyone at high school said the engine would explode. The engine is extremely powerful for what it is, a carry over from the Focus ST with 240bhp and 270lb-ft of torque. Passing and merging is an after thought, the tranny kicks down and you get pushed back in your seat as you attempt to merge onto the 401. The car is a bit small for rear seat adults and does get uncomfortable back there on long car rides, but if it's just you and a buddy in the front, you're fine. I wish they had a sportier version or brought the Ford Kuga's Manual transmission, then it would have been a perfect Sport SUV, which I think is what Ford wanted it to be
You should know Ford was the only company that didn't take any bail out money. For that reason I bought 2000 shares when it was $2.00 and sold it at $12.00
Very well done. Drives awesome too. MotorTrend picked it First in the months mag over the new CRV CX5 Sportage and VW Tigwan. Well done now put a nice lease program on it Ford!
Try a 2.0l ecoboost escape I'm sure you'll be impressed. Seriously new cars have so much power i have a hard time figuring out why people need even more.
Since u asked, it's because they market entirely to people who drive like human restrictor plates on everyone else's forward progress(aka old people and people who treat cars like appliances). Lincoln's last decent RWD car was the eponymously-named LS and since then, a slew of chrome-coated Fords. Ford can't be truly respectable unless GM makes even more costly mistakes than it already has.
It's called a fucking opinion. I'm entitled to one, just as you are or even the person that made the review. If they wanted to silence opinions that differ from their own, RU-vid allows them to disable comments ;)
Ford was not involved in any bailout. Yes Ford acted swiftly and recalled the vehicles that were affected and fixed them. I have owned other Asian products and manufacturer denied a serious safety defect for a year before admitting there was a problem and issued a stupid service bulletin. If the Escape is priced too high drop the same money on a Hyundai with almost all of the same features
i did not mean that ford copied the design of kia or hyundai but i meant that the new 2013 ford escape became looks like kia and hyundai ( weak paper crossovers )
Ah, very enlightening read. Too bad you focus on the bad and not the good. The good part of the story is that the fix is so easy, (30 minutes by the dealer). Unfortunately the other models ARE NOT affected by it, but who cares...at least they didn't hide it!
Agreed. Wish I could get a car without the hi-tech electro-gadgets (gps, sync, sat-radio, etc). That stuff will force the car into obsolescence well before the basic car components reach end-of-life.
thus any one know when it will possible to see the escape(kuga in europe) in belgium dealers? cant wait to test-drive it any one any idea how much the titanium will cost in euros?
I would never buy Hyundai again Tin pieces of s**t noisy as hell no power. Thats why i buy American I have a 2013 escape and am very happy with build quality! It has a 2.0 eco boost and has power. Its has a very quiet ride no road noise. Yes all manufactures have recalls i don't care which one you name At least ford isnt afraid to admit if there is one and do everything they can to fix the problem Unlike toyota which high and mighty to admit they have flaws too!
if'n Ford were a top auto manufacturer then its rear-wheel-drive lineup wouldn't just be the Mustang and Lincoln wouldn't have the reputation of being an over-chromed Ford that it always had.
Maybe so, but what about the people who would like to get out of their own way enough to sacrifice a few MPGs. Why should the "vast majority" feel entitled to clog the roadways by not even attempting to drive a little bit over the speed limit when there are at least a handful of us who want to fully experience driving?
This is perhaps one of the most ill thought responses i've seen. Your subjective view of Ford means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Lincoln hasn't been known as simply rebadged Fords until the past couple decades, it was it's own entity with it's own vehicles and technology for the better part of the 20th century Smartacus. And why is it that Toyota is one of the world's top manufacturers yet they have an incredibly limited number of rear drive vehicles, especially in N. America?
I wouldn't mind driving a ford escape titanium but really? All that new tech they put in it is gonna go one day, and the day it goes is when you find out how much it really cost to fix it.
You do realize there are traffic laws....right? A "vast majority" does drive over the speed limit. It's a lot more rare to find someone driving 55mph or less in a 55 mph zone, than to find someone doing 60 or more. Driving is a right, not a privilege. You can "experience" driving because the State allows you to, not because you're born with the right. Should I sit here and question why a vast majority feel entitled to drive sober on the roadways and not drive a little drunk? No, that's stupid.
You have to remember.. It's a NEW American made vehicle, having recalls is par for the course. If want a recall FREE vehicle, head for your local friendly Toyota dealer! Just sayin'!
Too many packages and options. Overpriced well decently equipped. Nav in a car is no longer worth $1000-$2000 when you can get it via iphone free in the fall. Nice try ford but way overpriced and no good standard features.
EcoBoost is overrated. All it does is try to make four-bangers not feel overtaxed. This car is a wimpy-looking minivan with a crap engine lineup and that deplorable MyFord Touch setup is a deal-killer. This is why "global" is overrated: it's an excuse to make every car the same as every other car.
a loan, not a bail out. there is a major difference. They were not a a part of the 2 who were going under. There is MAJOR difference. Read up before you post please. Thanks
Ugly, tall, bloated Focus wagon. Might as well be a minivan, and then on top of that shit, no more V6. Yeah it wasn't a great engine but to me it's preferable to a four-banger. Anoyne besides me starting to think EcoBoost is just a gimmick?
