The 56 was by far the best of the 3 year run of this body style. When they did away with the 'dual eyebrow' dash in 57 that kind of killed it for me.

Its amazing to think that these beautiful machines can be built to better than brand new specifications. If done correctly and with a rev limiter in place new v8 low reving engines could outlast the owners.

You guys did this car just to make cry! I love that color and the 2-door sedan body style. Beautiful. I'm so glad not to see the 2 straight chrome exhaust extensions that are seem on EVERY classic Chevy. Honestly though, I'm okay with modern conversions, and I know people like that hot-rodded sound, but to me these cars were elegant and should sound "elegant". I would want the exhaust muffled wisper quiet and very little noise in the cabin.

57 was a breakthrough year when the Steel companies figured out how to reduce the tears during stamping as the mental stretched. The fins and styled fenders were because the designers knew the metal would stretch. Ford tried it earlier but the Throw-away rate reduced profits where the 55-56's Ford's and the new T-bird had bland fenders and body lines. Even the glass makers figure out how the make a 1-piece windshield with no distortions on the curves for a A-pillars.

Are you using an electronic accelerator pedal assembly on that LS swap? How did you mount it? Does it come with the wiring harness?

@FooseDesignInc

John, yes it is an electronic accelerator assembly. We made a bolt on mount that bolts to the firewall. It does not come with the wiring harness. To make it appear stock we made an arm off the LS pedal so the stock pedal pushes on it.

Should have put the smaller steering wheel in the car, looks the same smaller diameter, no need to wrestle with the car any more.
@DreamHachi
@DreamHachi 5 лет назад
The big ol steering wheel looks a lot nicer in these cars. My 67 c10 has that big ol original steering wheel and no powersteering. Pretty easy to turn the wheel. Plus this car has power steering so I'll bet you can street it with a pinkie. Ain't no wrestling with this car
@dougclark5485
@dougclark5485 5 лет назад
@@DreamHachi You made my point, the steering wheels were that big for leverage to get around in a parking lot, with no power steering. In the older cars they were huge. I had a 54 Bel air and a 72 C-10, the wheel in the truck was much smaller than in my 54. With the power steering in this car the old huge steering wheel is not necessary. Aftermarket smaller diameter steering wheels that look exactly the same for the tri - 5 cars are available, People are not used to seeing such huge steering wheels any more and they look out of place in today's world.

It's a traffic light finder. The roof line on 50's cars is so forward that if you're first in line at a red light you can't see it unless you duck down and look up. I had one on my '56 Olds and it really worked great.

Wow just don't make them like that no more, I'm old school Love the 55 and 56 and 57's Love to do up a motor like this one for my 2001 Silverado Z 71 that would be my dream, my truck got from North Carolina I live in Manchester Michigan bought it used a little over a year ago. Man I couldn't believe it crawled underneath clean as a whistle I do mean clean no surface rust on the frame nowhere headed under coated all I did was put a Colin induction hood painted to match it's just got the 5.3 it is a beautiful truck the color is pewter. Black leather seats Love this truck no flaws in the body anywhere except one little spot passenger side just under the door handle one tiny little round dead a awesome motor done up would finish my truck for sure.

@lt7automotive931
@lt7automotive931 5 лет назад
@@Properformancenutritioncom Haha, what? Those cars are probably some of the most-often motor swapped cars in automotive history. Whether you like it or not is up to you. Saying it's no longer what it is demonstrates a limited perspective. We have no idea what was swapped out of it. Might not have even been a Chevy motor by now. So putting an LS in it may have made it more "true to brand". We don't know. And the upgrades to brakes and steering make the roads safer for all of us.
@Properformancenutritioncom
@Properformancenutritioncom 5 лет назад
@@lt7automotive931 I do not disagree with you at all. I can see what you're saying. I think people should do whatever they want to do with their cars. I was expressing my personal feeling towards the build because I'm one of those nostalgic cry babies. If I want to drive a 56 Bel Air, I want to drive a 56 Bel Air and experience the car the way someone would have when it was new. But I'm sure the upgrades Chip did would be a blast to drive as well. Another classic back on the road is a good thing either way. As far as brakes and steering go, they worked just fine back then. As long as you understand what you're driving you're good to go. I've got drums all the away around in my 67 c10 and they work great with the 250. With the LS you have to upgrade everything though. I trust myself with drum brakes in the front but I don't trust other people.

@FooseDesignInc

With the original 265 V8 and cast iron 2spd powerglide, the client would not have been able to drive his vehicle comfortably and economically to Palm Desert. We simply came up with a modern solution to his request by installing the LS3 / 4L65E Connect & Cruise package from GM performance. He will be able to get a moderate 26-28 mpg on the highway in overdrive with the A/C on while listening to his satellite radio, all of which was tastefully installed so as not to take away from the beauty of the classic that it is.
