Nice review. You actually covered more points than the dozen of reviews I've watched on the megane e tech. And you are the only one to test : - the sound system - the horn - the autopark But no mention of the central mirror which can switch to a screen (your model was equiped). Near perfect so 🙂 Very refreshing presentation.
The boot button is no problem. I am disabled and find zero issues with it. Yes, an electric boot would be nice but it is so soft opening that I don't even notice it. This was the only gripe fFully Charged had with this car. Also the vehicle tells you the truth about the range. In fact it under promises and over delivers. I got from Liverpool to Anglesey and back on a single charge which removes all dependancy on public chargers. My previous E-208 over promised and under delivered on the "claimed" range which left me stranded multiple times at the mercy of faulty public chargers and gave me a parking ticket while trying to charge in Wales. It was also buggy software and electrical system wise to the point where I had to return it over a year early. Very sad. Fully Charged managed to get 270 miles out of it on a 280 range claim, so very very good. The drive is incredible on the Renault. I love that all of the controls and regen braking are on the steering column giving lots of extra storage in the centre dividing space between the seats. The wipers are better and spray evenly from the wiper blade directly. The rear view camera is great and very useable in low light. The camera systems mean you never risk kerbing your alloys and I just have a hard time finding any fault at all. I would say the regen brake paddle controls on the steering column are a bit flimsy and one of mine needs replacing but that's it. The large wheels and suspension are a joy putting little or no shock through my disabled back and bigger wheels will add to range efficiency. The heat pump which keeps the battery more stable in temperature fluctuations is a great innovation. Renault are in the lead with this car in my humble opinion. It looks way better than anything from VW, and frankly I would never buy from VW after they lied about diesel omissions and deliberately fitted hardware to their cars that cheated on emissions testing, thus killing more people with air pollution. They committed fraud. Renault use Google Drive which is head and shoulders above Peugeot's in house software and sat nav. The Renault got me straight to the hospital and right to the correct department without a hitch. The Peugeot's satnav sent me on regular wild goose hunts and even trapped me in an unfamiliar place awhile back and would not give me an alternative route. I had to navigate by the moon to get out of it. The E-208 Malfunctioned in a terrifying way while I was driving actually causing me to break down in tears while explaining to the staff and customer help. The staff were great and tried their best,I don't like Stellantis at all. Go with this car. It's hands down the best one I've tried of all modern EV's of the past few years. It also can tow my caravan and trailer, something Peugeot's full EVs cannot do.

It's simple really - as lovely as it is to watch reviewers driving here and there in a car, your average prospective owner actually needs to know the details and features exactly as you've described them today to see whether or not the car will fit in to their lifestyle. So, yes, please - more of the same... 👍
great review!!. About the car, the only real issue I can see is that the back seats don't fold flat. As a dog owner that's a deal breaker I'm afraid. But a very encouraging step from Renault who have pioneered EVs with the ZOE. 👍

Thank you for reviewing the sound system ! For price of the car I think that all ranges should've had the H/K sound system at the expense of some other gimmick . Nice car though , I'd have to go for the top range if I was to buy the car . For obvious reasons LoL . Thank you
I saw that there was one nephew who asked the Euro NCAP safety rating. Answer: it has not been published yet. However, I think it will have 5 stars. As of March 2nd 2022: the Mégane E-Tech has a 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating.
@@Beorn. The Zoé scored 0 stars just because of lack of driving assistance features and pedestrian protection, due to a new grading scale. Remember it's a 10 years car. Of cours this up to date MeganE will have all the 5 stars.
Love your style! If you can find out the answer, it would be lovely: 1) Can you turn on AC & heated seats while being plugged into a charger? Current issue with Zoe ZE50, annoying in winter. 2) How does maximum recuperation feel? Comparison with other cars or if you know kW figure? Can you save the recuperation level to your profile? 3) Is there a way to turn off pedestrian warning sounds? If not, how bad is it? Can you customize it? If so, can I use silence instead? 4) Do you know Renault production volumes at least for 2022? 5) Can I install Waze from Google Play and run it natively from the car? When this will be available?
I can answer 5, theoretically you can run most apps which were designed to run with Android auto connected. Not sure about iOS because it's a ground up nightmare OS to work with
@@SustainableGal Waze is not yet in the store for Android Automotive. The question is: Is Renault doing some app filtering or Google has not yet published it?
@@vitavacek3483 yeah Renaults probably filtering then coz it's supposed to be pretty open source and easy for publishers to add stuff that's in a certain software category like navigation and media etc
@@SustainableGal At Volvo (C40 also uses Android Automotive) they told me the same thing. Not yet available and we don’t know when it will be. Google owns Waze. Question is if they have published it?
WHAT A SONG CHOICE! My mum would be proud 🥹 I was worried when you said Harman Kardon because I’ve had HK in 3 cars now and it’s never lived up to it’s home audio credentials. I used to have a Megane MK4 and the Bose system had insanely deep bass for a factory stereo system.
Did I like the format? Hell yeah! Did I like the car? Well that's another, hell yeah from me. Did I like Eilis doing the EV drive review? Hmmm, that's a 'no' for me. I didn't like it...I loved it!! Hands down my favourite presenter anywhere at the moment - though Tish you do a fine job too. Seriously, what's not to love about this video?! Great format. Great car. Excellent review, loved the new format, very engaging relaxed style. The car looks smart and like a real contender. Love how they are using google as the interface, just makes sense.
By all means keep this format for future reviews. A couple of questions I would have asked were answered and though, due to time restraints you clearly couldn’t give the car a longer test, I look forward to you giving us that back here in England at a future date.

So, the questions everyone asked are questions anyone who could google could find out. So obvious that this its not a test, but something Renault payed for.
Not bad format and review. Be cool to see a isofix car seat in, and maybe see if a pram fits in the boot. I was hopeful the boot was bigger than my kona - the litres is but its just sunk more. No more room just no raised false floor.
Maybe the middle screen should be rotatable like a tablet is when you hold it? Watch Netflix? Landscape. For driving, you might prefer portrait orientation. A couple of Chinese cars have this and I think it’s the way forward.
Not sure your calculator was working quite right when you worked out the charge times unless the charge rate plummets to a snail's pace on the last 20%. A 130kw charger plugged in to a 60kwh battery should see the charge delivered in around 28 minutes. Even if you allow for a slowing of the charge rate for the last 20% to protect the battery, 1h 15m still feels a bit wrong. You'd be more likely see 20% to 100% done in 22 mins at 130Kw
A superb review from a very fine(and beautiful) motoring journalist. I've just ordered the Top-of the -Range Iconic model (with that excellent Heat Pump). It was a straight choice between a Tesla Model 3 or the Megane, both were the same price.....No contest! The sterile, poor build quality, horrid interior, ugly Tesla is so dated compared to the Renault. It's tech is so 'yesterday'. Brilliant move by Renault going to the experts, Google! By the way, Renault say the 0-60 time is 7.5 Sec, but independent reviewers have clocked it at 6.9 Sec (that's Mini Cooper S territory, but with that lovely instant torque).......how typically French, underplaying!
You will certainly have the Nissan equivalent. Renault and Nissan are in the same group and share the same technology and plateforms but lately Renault have a more premium range than Nissan.
As I've seen with other reviews since it doesn't have 1-pedal driving and the 7kW only model is no longer sold. Does it have double glazed glass? What about the real world 10-80% charging time on 130kW(assume that's the max) DC? Love the flappy paddle regen similar to Hyundai/Kia. Is the battery chemistry LFP or NMC? Also learned there is no frunk.
Wow great video. But this has just put the E-Tech on my radar now. 292 mile range with only a 60kWh battery? Nice. If the price is decent and not in the 40,000's and is more like 30 - 36,000 then I will definitely be considering this.
Funny: That jumping up in the air next to the car in the thumbnail is how Toyota used to end their ads in Australia in the 90s.. "Oh oh oh what a feeling.. Toy-ot-a!"
Worth noting that the UK spec lacks a lot of features when compared to the EU versions, For example, no ambient light above glove box, no electric seat position adjustment, no automatic parking, smaller centre screen.. such a shame
I do think Renault missed an opportunity to reimaging the original Mark 1 Megane dash to a modern digital dash. I do not mean the same dash with digital stuff in it but it could have been in the shape of the original dash instead of square which is a pity. The original MK 1 Megane dash had beautiful flowing curves and ellipses in it. It was a thing of beauty for its time when you compare it to what was out at the time like the Ford Escourt Yuk, the Peugeot 306 Yuk, the Citroen ZX Yuk, the VW Golf Yuk, The Toyota Corrola Yuk, the Nissan Almera puke. They all had horrible full plastic dash. In fact the only other car I can think of from back then that had a nice stylish dash was the Fiat Bravo and Brava.
