I can tell you one thing as a long time EV driver (10 years now), but once you know your car, what percentage is 'I'm in the s**t" levels of battery level, how many miles of range or battery % your regular journeys take and so on, I just don't have range anxiety. So much so, that both me and my wife have a EV. I've got a Born V3 (and a Mégane on order) and my wife has a ZS Trophy Long Range, we both have a charging port at home and we have 3 phase electrics too, so 22kw charging on the drive and with a EV tariff, a full charge is dirt cheap. Once you go through the hassle of installing all your apps, registering them etc, public charging so much quicker than it used to be. No complaints.

Just over an hour to go from 12% to 80% on a CCS charger is pretty good. Even on a 22kW AC charger the Megane still charges pretty fast. Good review! 👍🏽

The Renault e guide videos on RU-vid are very informative. It says the car uses the last 40 miles of driving, plus your efficiency to calculate range. reset it and see the impact. I get 270 on a full charge.

the range changing is pretty similar to a petrol - the computer will base range from your recent drives. So if its been driven hard then you get in and drive sensibly, you'll get more than it thinks - and the opposite is true

Setting up an account for an EV charger is no more difficult than arriving at a new car park which requires a digital payment. Also if you have an EV you should really think about a home wall charger - so we hardly ever need to use a public charger. Home charger for us only costs 7.5 per kwh, very cheap compared to petrol.

Such a shame that the uk version has much less features than the EU The UK top spec version doesn’t have self parking, ambient light only in the door panels, no electric adjustment for seats, much smaller infotainment screen.. Yet still paying over £40k for it

Literally ordered mine today in the same colour and everything. I’ve got my charge box install in about a week in preparation for the delivery. I’m a big Megane fan so to have my first EV a Megane had to be done.

I commute 70miles per day and it costs me £10 for 5 days commuting (350 miles) this is if you can charge at home on a night rate like I can. Then I also have solar on my roof. Which in summertime can fill my car with upto 60 miles of range per day. If I'm at home. (during weekends) or holidays

I know this was a year ago, but it’s a good review. I’d just like to ask, you say you spent £34:85. but I didn’t hear how many miles you covered in total. Any chance of an update?

Really enjoyed this. Having owned an ev for 2 years , im so relieved that im not doing the same motorway miles as i was doing precovid, as that can be stressful and really expensive. In the main, its great for local driving , so my advice if you are a two car family is get a low end EV for local travels and a fossil fuel car for long trips. And for the record, im sick of planning for trips, its just so tedious..takes the enjoyment out of it.

Absolutely right. Any EV no matter what brand or capacity is wouldn’t matter; they just don’t work at highway speeds. Well, unless you accept tp drive at 50-60 miles an hours tops or you get yourself a really long coffee break every 150 miles or so. Just doesn’t work. In city use; they are perfect!

@@sarhanist1disagree. One reviewer travelled in the Scenic Techno, from Lockerbie to near London, he done 3 stops & could have done 2 stops, he drove 70mph. He had the car for 3 months & that gets you acclimatised. There's loads of reviews doing long journeys.

Any info when estate version is coming out? I have allways liked modern Renaul estate cars. They look good and and have desent size boot, without being too big….

The car seems very beautiful to me, but in terms of its specifications, on a personal level, I feel that it lacks, for example, it lacks four-wheel drive and more autonomy, at least 100 more kilometers. Therefore, its price is very high for its current specifications. Greetings, excellent video.

Gheehehe, good to see the UK is slowly catching up with the charging! Here in the Netherlands we got chargers everywhere. And currently 33% of car sales is fully electric. Also, home chargers are usually 7, mostly 11 and some even 22kwh. I love the 22AC charging option on the Megane. Really gives you cheap and relative fast options for charging when you have a nice diner break and don't need fast charging. I have only two cards. One because it's cheap, the other one because it gives me huge coverage in the EU.

I come from Norway and we are far ahead on ev's. Charging infrastructure just keeps getting better. Even better.. now the charging stations where I can skip those (cencored) apps for starting an charge is coming. Now I just hope more cars like this megane comes with 22 as that is better charging. I do not wish to rush back to the fastcharger if I am out about. Just let me park, go explore a city or a mall.. and I can fully charge my car in 2-3 hours. that is much more ideal for me. PS: I do have this car and I love it :)

A superb review....Well done! I've just ordered the Top-of the -Range Iconic model in th UK (with that excellent Heat Pump). It was a straight choice between a Tesla Model 3 or the Megane, both were the same price.....No contest! The sterile, poor build quality, horrid interior, ugly Tesla is so dated compared to the Renault. It's tech is so 'yesterday'. Brilliant move by Renault going to the experts, Google! By the way, Renault say the 0-60 time is 7.5 Sec, but independent reviewers have clocked it at 6.9 Sec (that's Mini Cooper S territory, but with that lovely instant torque).......how typically French, underplaying!

I think the wheels you can get are 18" for the base model and 20" for the rest there's no 19" option 👍

Contactless should be offerred at main public charging points. I guess its like car parking apps. If you travel a lot you end up with a window of apps on your phone as each new carpark seems like a new app! Time to change

You said nothing about the raised floor and difficult driving position. If you are a talk person with the seat in a low setting you are sat with your legs almost straight if you want to get an proper seating position your head on the roof and due to the low door its impossible to get in and out without bending and stooping.

What if you don't have a smartphone to create an account for the public chargers? Can you do that bit on your home computer and input your details on the charger screen? Or can you pay by cash at the machines instead?

No. You could use those that accept contactless or sign up to those that supply RFID cards and keep those in your wallet. To live with an internet connected car though you’d get the best experience using your smartphone.

0:50 which LED strip? 🤔 But.. setting up an account to pay is the stupidest thing about EV charging! I have never ever needed to create an account to pay for dino juice, ever! So why isn't this globally [well working and accepted] payment system used for electron fuel stations... #foodforthought

My neighbour seems to spend a few hours a week at the local motorway service station recharging her Tesla - she drinks a lot of Costa coffee meanwhile! The Renault is a nice looking car though. I just don't think EVs are practical if you live in remote countryside and need a workhorse of a car. But for running around towns, fine.

Hi thank you very much for you comment! Public EV charging stations vary on how they work. Some use an account, but others you can use your bank card. However, plenty of EV chargers can allow you to create an account prior to using and receive a card for this account. I hope this helps! Done 3500 miles in my Mégane in 7 weeks. Only queued to charge (for 5mins) once. I live in a flat and don’t have charger at home either. It’s doable if you want, and if you don’t that’s ok too for now.

Hi, I live in Norway where admittedly we have a rather high percentage of new sales being ev's. Lately I have been seeing a few.. not alot yet, charging stations just like you describe. I can pay with my card.(but at one of the networks I could use the app, type in my licence plate and after that it is enough just to drive up and put in the charger) Also: The EU mandated new chargers to have card payment from now on due to this. EV infrastructure just keeps getting better :)

Can't believe the "top" Iconic trim , doesn't come in that cool red colour, just white, grey, black or blue. Poor decision. Also, where are the electric seats and power tailgate?
