Having to leave Melbourne in a hurry, two sleazy unemployed show-biz pals sign on for work as divers. This takes them to an idyllic island on the way to Bali where they compete for Princess Lala. The hazardous dive produces a chest of priceless jewels which arouses the less romantic interest of some shady locals.

Being a Melbournian, it's very interesting to see the opening of the movie showing early 1950s Melbourne, although you might have thought they'd have iconic Flinders Street Station as the setting. Bing and Bob, what legends.

Bob was fifty when he made this. Exactly half his life. He died in 2002. I crossed paths with Bob twice. Saw him on his USO tour in Korea in 1970 and at Seattle Paramount theater some twenty years later.

IF I remember correctly using the camera as a 3rd person was started with the Marx Brothers they used it quite often. Another one that used it often was Jerry Lewis it was also used by others. These types of movies are no longer made sadly made. It added a depth to the movies/shows as well as just a good comedic touch.

Helen Mirren suddenly appeared in the driveway at Ferncliff Road on Bainbridge Island about twelve years ago when I stopped by to see what had happened in our neighborhood. Here, she again suddenly appears, with an agenda. She tried to force me to sign up for Acting Master Class when I just want a weekend movie to watch while I rest. Sure, I am interested in acting classes. Just not right this second.

When this film was made, most people still had very little literacy about Bali. It is not surprising that there is very little to show Bali as a complete picture. They produce films in the studio

Frankly, I find this movie an insult to Bali. I spent quite a bit of time in Bali in the 1970s and 80s and found the people and the island mesmerising, interesting and kind. This film is a mockery and the acting is clumsy.

@@hqfidz You're right. Best way to deal with it is to laugh at it (not the characters but the misrepresentation). I'm sure the Balinese would have a laugh too. I think their happiness with life is one of their most endearing characteristics. I'd go as far to say they are the happiest people I've ever had the privilege to be among,

We, Indonesians, know that island very well. No Balinese gamelan is heard in this film, and the way how the woman is dressed up does not belong to Indonesia. It is Thai!

Wenn ich den Film hier abspiele, ist er auf Deutsch. Der "Audiotrack" steht auf Deutsch. Wenn ich ihn gedownloadet habe, ist er aber auf Englisch. Kann mir das mal einer erklären oder einen Tipp geben? If I play this video here directly it is in german language. That`s good, because I´m german. But after downloading the language is English. Can anyone explain this to me and give an advice, what to do? PS: For sure I know, that this is an American-film.
