It's the home of the Shakespeare Festival, Southern Utah University and soon a brand new LDS Temple. News Specialist Alex Cabrero takes us to Cedar City, where there is a lot of positive, but also a few things city leaders would like to work on changing.

Moving to Cedar City in 3 yrs. from Kansas - the City in the valley at 5800 ft. elevation, 5 National Parks within a couple hours drive, drive out of town up into the mountains and to the ski/mountain resort town of Brian Head (too many things to list). Utah is the most beautiful state my wife and I have been to - just drive around and the views will change.

That doesn't sound like Cedar City, Utah to me. The weather sucks here too. Are you sure we're talking about the same place?? 😁

I'm actually headed there in August for a camping trip. I'm excited but too far to check it out on my own (drive through).

Beautiful town. I made my decision to move here on my retirement and it was in 1989 . I could afford it 30 years ago selling my place and buying in Cedar City with an extra for remodeling. Now the prices for move in condos are equal or slightly higher. Good for sellers, sad for me.

Good story, great reporting, beautiful video, superb editing... what more could one ask for? What more could we expect from KSL? I have family in Cedar and love visiting during the summer, BUT... those winters just aren’t for me. One thing that is truly impressive about Cedar City is their tribute to our veterans of five different wars at Veterans Park on Freedom Boulevard. If anyone is interested in viewing the video I did as my own tribute you can see it on my channel… “Veterans Park: Cedar City Utah”

I mean I don’t know how the Redmen could be proud when you go and change our mascot.
@ulrichskaarsgard7848
@ulrichskaarsgard7848 4 года назад
Because "Redmen" is a racial term for Native Americans. Just change the name to "Lamanites" instead...😂

Ulrich Skaarsgard it’s not being used as a racial term it’s referring and to honor the local tribes.

And no water You taught me to put the brakes on growth stakewide until we deal with the water issues that we're having both in the South and in the North the Great Salt lake in the North and in the South putting up golf courses for wealthy people to use is ridiculous That shows an amount of greed on the part of developers that's unsurpassed in the country why they would want to develop this golf courses down there for just a few people to use them they're not any lines down there to use those golf courses it's just the wealthy feud it gets used to them this is again it's a quality of life issue right and you want quality of life you want water to drink stop the development now just stop it all put the brakes on it at least for 3 to 5 years until you figure out where you're gonna really get the water but you won't Some developers in the city councilman's pocket and they're getting kickbacks I'll guarantee it if you investigate some of these city councils they've get major kickbacks or they're getting perks or the construction company are their family members

Lived in Cedar City for 10 years, and just moved away. I did not think it was a "great" place to live. The crime is relatively low, but that is changing as more people move in. Two types of weather there: Cold & windy, hot and windy. The weather is not pleasant by any means. Very cold winter that lasts almost until June, and then it gets too hot, upper 80s, 90s and dry . The local Mormons who have lived there for generations are not kind to outsiders moving in. Typical Utah-Mormon elitist attitude. Your children will be excluded in school and extra curricular activities by the snobby mormon kids. There are also weird Polygamists all over town as well now, they are not friendly neighbors. Real estate is way overpriced and the job market sucks. $10/hr is considered generous 😂 Also, it's a Walmart/ Applebees type of town. If you are a closed minded Mormon conservative that does not like to eat at good restaurants or shop at nice stores, than Cedar City Utah might just be a good place for you!

When you mentioned "Walmart/Applebees" type of town, I got a clear impression. It probably feels quite boring and desolate, if one is used to big city life. I'll visit, but can't ever see myself living there. Thanks for sharing. 🌞
