I am in awe. This issue gave me goosebumps that I hadn't felt since the original HOX #2. This was the most Hickman-ish that Gillen has ever been. Maybe better. My bet is still that Moira is going to make "the choice "at the end. "Maybe 11 lives if you make the right choice" said Destiny. Gillen made a point at reminding us again in this issue, that we are STILL in HER 10th life no matter the branches it takes. And i also had a crazy idea. Moira and Charles are still woriking together, in the no-place. I am calling it: she is a double agent. (at least I hope she is)
Way back, wasn’t Charles and Magneto’s decision to bring Sinister into their Krakoa plans the first disagreement they had with Moira? She “strongly advised against it”…? “But men will be men”… Something to that effect. Her instincts were certainly on point with that. And I love the new layers and point of view shift brought to Sinister’s obsession with the Summer’s family and cloning Jean with Maddie, that the Phoenix being one of only two things a Dominion fears, brings up.
Honestly, I’m here for it. The Krakoa era has mostly been a blast. Heck, even more minor stories like X corp had some solid character work and made me think of things that happen when a post scarcity business does try and go into the world of corporate espionage. Also, it had Monet and Selene beating up Fenris. And I do love how much you’re enjoying Destiny because I do love how she’s been. Heck, her issue with Rogue and Gambit in X men gave me the giggles and more so in Immortal where she asked Hope to walk her to Mother Righteous… just so she could kick the Ms Sinister in the face. I’m just so happy she’s back. I would love for them to have a New Krakoa. Especially since so many of the citizens have had it better there. Martha Johannson finally got a body, Cypher has been really flexing his muscles on his abilities and Stacy X has a good job where she gets to punch Nightcrawler for how the team was to her in the Austin era. Love that for her lol. Never expected to like stories where Legion and Nekra were the main characters but wow, Spurrier and Lavelle really turned it out for those two. All I ask is for Maddy Pryor and Cable to work together in the upcoming Cable stuff and, if he appears in Dead X men, for Angel to reunite with a certain Southern belle. Although part of me would love a moment where Maddie realises that Hope is technically her granddaughter oh and for her to talk with the Cuckoos.
Gillen's run is easily among my favorites in the last decade. Wrote the name of his secret villain on the first cover. First panel? Enigma Variations. How did Essex come back? Somewhat Enigmatically. Al Ewing literally spells it out in Defenders: Beyond #5, the three Sinister clones go to three different writers, and still the reveal in #18 hits flawlessly. Playing absolute 4D-chess. Excited to see the last leg of this journey with ROTPOX and X-Men Forever.
I enjoyed this issue so much. Almost to the conclusion of a epic story that has been in play for quite awhile. For me, great fandom pay off. All the what, where, when, and how all coming together like a puzzle. Love intricate plotlines.
Charles and company don't have to kill Moira. All they need to do is take away her x-gene before she turn's thirteen. Forge certainly has the technological know-how.
Iron-Man rocking the Mysterium Armor on the cover of BloodHunt (which is a post FoHoX event) I believe that kinda supports your take on the A New Krakoa theory. In which the Krakoa Era was not reset/erased (maybe, not in it's entirety)
I bet the other 2 members of Xavier's team are Rachel and Betsy. They are confirmed to appear in Dead X-Men and Dead X-Men ties in with Rise of the POX.
Part of me's trying to listen, but the other part of me is just thinking about reading early Krakoan Era, needing people to talk about it with and eventually making my way to the early Krakin Krakoa videos. Feels like a lifetime ago
After the immortal/immoral X-men run, I trust Gillen to stick the landing, and that's no small praise, since to me, HoxPox is the standard I expect from this final ! Can't wait to see how this all ends !

my humble opinion : The Phoenix won't fix anything in the Krakoa Era. IMHO, the constant in Hickman rules for this era is : take the overdone clichés, and take them at face value to invert or subvert them. Exemples : Death doesn't matter anymore -> The mutants can resurrect at will. the different mutant factions constant infighting prevent any progress. --> They unite and compromise to achieve the one goal they have in common : protect the mutant population from humanity. Logan was in most books most of the time -->. Now he is only in X-Force and his own book. Each characters slept with many teammates or lovers ? --> Make it official, on Krakoa everybody sleeps with everybody. Everybody has a dark past ? --> Amnesty for everybody. Mutants were supposed to be a minority, but after 50 years of continuity, there are thousands of them : Instead of killing them again and again to make them a minority on and on, Resurrect all of them and make a civilisation out of it. The Phoenix being the solution to the big problems is overdone ! --> Have the Phoenix force (unwillingly) help to create the bog bad (Mother Righteous ascension leading to Enigma). And since Hickman (and then Gillen) never goes for a solution he already presented in the comics (The Phoenix Group killing a Dominion has been done and showed in Inferno), the solution will probably come from something else, my bet being from the heroes working together instead in a kind of time/space mutant circuit. But to me, neither the Phoenix or Galactus will be a part of the victory. :)
Hoping roboira was to see what she *could do* while watching from the no-place… I hate her so much!! She is such a trope but became a true villain by doubling down every time. Wasn’t happy at first but I get it. I would like to hear what Hickman had in mind for the future when writing inferno or maybe just the convo between him and Gillen…to a lesser extent Ewing and Duggan.
I think this is an answer to why he is called Enigma. The name Enigma ties back to the musical piece that made Destiny collapse in the beginning flashback of Immortal: the “Enigma Variations” by Edward Elgar (specifically the movement titled “Nimrod”). The “Enigma Variations” in this context would be the four Sinisters. Case closed! 😎
I'm not sure that we will see the Orbis Stellaris future. He was always treated like the least of the Sinisters. Also, what use would that do to the larger story? Although I suppose that could be the Magik future.
Well we did get to see Orbis attempt to achieve Dominion-status in the Sins Of Sinister timeline with the use of the ‘World Farm’ & its vast processing capabilities, but it was stopped by Storm. As far as the whole Orbis Timeline though, ya I’m curious as to what took place & how his attempt may have differed in it.
I feel like this only works if you like Gillien work. I found his work to be kinda mid and Amoral Xmen made me drop the line after that god awful Destiny issue. Acting like she a Iceman but was just a Firestar.

I'm less convinced than you that the Trickster Dominion and the Essex Dominion *have to* be one and the same. My only real criticism of KG's story is that this is at least the third time that he's done kind of the same thing: give us a crazy big story, with multiple big-character deaths, that he then resets to the status quo ante. He did that in Judgement Day. And then in SoS. And now in ROTPOX. So that trick is starting to be a bit less impressive
@JasonColby I don't think he's saying the Trickster Dominion & the Essex Dominion are the same. He's saying, in Inferno, Hickman called it a Trickster 'Titan' which is not as powerful as a Dominion, but now it's suddenly being called a Dominion by Gillen. Not sure if this change was intentional or an oversight, but Hickman laid out the whole hierarchy of them in data pages for a reason. I just don't know if that reason will still be relevant without Hickman on board.
This is all cool but i bet nine out of ten ppl who read this have no idea whats going on. Thats the problem with marvel, its near impossible to keep up with all this continuity. Also, jazz the hottest team in the NBA. Look out
Back when i was into Krokan before the r o t set in with Destiny of X, i watched people do reviews of comics. Cheap, support grass movments a n d buy actually good comics.
