I feel like house of m doesn’t “setup” the hope summers messiah bs, avx stuff. I believe it forces it. Which is why I just cant get into any of these event comics. Maybe xmens continuity is meant to be finite. When all stories have been exhausted, instead of having to turn characters on their heads, cyclops a murderer, irrational, etc, or killing off nearly all mutants, embrace segregation, when it was always villainous every time magneto tried it, screw all that noise. Instead of those desperate tactics, have the xmen succeed in being embraced by the world, having FOH go the way of irl groups, meaning they are mocked into oblivion by most of the public. Thus they have mostly gained acceptance. Their fight is over. Marvel as a company can restart the comic after, but end it, instead of doing house of m, which causes issues, you guys call them xmen stories, I just can’t. They are annoying side effects of house of m. I hope xmen 97 stays far, far away from any of those “event comic” stories, and instead, only take what works. Because turning cyclops into a psychopath, morpheus but bad, just doesnt work. No matter how much they want to try and flesh it out. Dont see why Scott absolutely believes, knows that Hope is destined to retcon House of M, anymore than cyclops absolutely believes Leech is destined to become the world’s best chef, and then robs a bunch of banks, murders people in said banks, to get Leech’s tuition money for culinary school lmao. Chuck can make mistakes, a bad decision even, but he’s just all of a sudden an evil guy? Undoing every story that came before? Nah, dont think so. Oh I got it, let’s have apocalypse shake hands and claim all he ever wanted was for mutants to succeed lmao. Yea, through culling. Bottom line, Have the xmen succeed, humans coexist (for the most part) with humans, and end the continuity when you have to escalate to house of m type storylines and then reboot. Xmen continuity should be finite, or get better writers, i dunno. Seriously don’t get how people enjoy some of these stories. So much work, and time just to undo what should have never been done to begin with. Carefully crafted retcons, until they have to just move on, and ask people to just snap their fingers and ignore parts of the continuity, it’s embarrassing. Imagine if the walking dead was still going on, and they tried some of these tactics. Kirkman could barely continue a few arcs after the story he had outlined, even though he wanted to. It became crystal clear, his storytelling was done, and he couldn’t keep up with the deadline anymore. At least he didn’t phone it in, anymore than he already had, and accepted reality, and ended👏the👏continuity👏

Don't buy new comics for investment. Over 95% of then will be worth cover price or less 30 years from now. Only buy what you enjoy reading. You can also borrow TPBs and Graphic Novels from the library and read them for free. If you want to invest try buying superhero comics at least 40 years old in higher grade from comic conventions, comic stores, E-bay, flea markets and garage sales. Learn how to grade comics and keep that price guide handy.
THE POWER FANTASY #1 IS INSANE. Also, Uncanny X-Men #1 is one of those comic books where I consciously disqualify myself from giving an objective opinion on it. My inherent biases/preferences as a reader color my reading of it immensely, to the point where I don't trust myself enough to discuss it objectively. I got into the X-Men specifically because of HoXPoX and the first year of the Krakoa era, a time when truly fresh concepts, compelling sci-fi, and an active decision to try not to succumb to repetitive comics cycles, took center stage in the main narrative of the X-line. Hence, I can see why Uncanny might end up not being for me, despite it being spoken of glowingly by a lot of fans. Fortunately, I found X-Force #1 to be very solid, so I currently still have a foot in the door during the From The Ashes era, but that's about it.
3:25 That is the kind of plot DC would have had written uo back in the Bronze Age. I'm sold. The Absolute and mainline DC books will cross over. I'm intrigued, if Fall turns into a DC stream I will buy every Absolute issue.

Been getting into comics more lately, though mine have been indie titles like Scott Pilgrim. Batman is my main interest as I grew up with the Animated Series and the Tim Burton films. I am also playing through the Arkham games again right now. He’s my favorite super hero and yet I barely read the comics. I believe I have Year One and The Man Who Laughs. Was thinking of trying the stories I don’t know well like Long Halloween or Hush. Or locate some comics from the 70s and 80s, I guess mainly from when Tim Drake started as Robin.
Agreed, there was nothing about that first issue that makes me hype to buy the next. But to be fair, i dont think theres anything they could have put out following krakoa that would have grabbed me.
Although I don’t have the same opinion, it is a really solid list! But I think that nothing can outclass Amazing Fantasy 15! This story should be in the Holy Bible!
I loved FX and the Legion take on Dave Haller and the X-Men. But I think that the animation zone is really where its at Marvel-Wise. Id like a whole new line of Marvel animations personally...

What are your thoughts on an Ultimate Marvel Event where it’s set 4 months ahead, and by the time the mini event ends, it catches up with the comics on sale that month??
The whole point of buying physical is we pay more for an actual owned copy. 100 years from now nobody gonna be paying a million dollars for a digital copy of a comic
I agree completely, but I think people are worried about sales because so many comics get cancelled too soon due to low sales. They don’t want their favorite comics to get cancelled
The X-books QR codes are for self-contained bonus pages that tease the overall premise of the individual series. That’s been my experience reading the comics. Now, that’s the creative purpose. For business purpose, it might be to track readership across physical, digital, and pirate sites. You can’t announce that as a company because it will seem like you are promoting the piracy of your own books.
