Dear Viewer
The last year of the 20th Century was a busy one for yours truly. Plenty of mainstream journalism going on and towards the end of the year all hell broke loose in Australia's close northern neighbour, East Timor which I covered for TV networks.
However we still had time to shoot a road train video, the third in the series. And this is it.
Content:
4:33 Bronco Branding in Western Queensland;
6:19: A Mack Titan pulling six decks of cattle for inter-paddock and inter-state work for Peter Saint at Kurrundi Station in central NT;
9:28: Brisbane Truck Show 1999;
16:00: Two-trailer road trains in the Riverina haul rice;
21:16: Sheep haulage at Millicent in South Australia;
24:50: Linfox's triple road trains servicing the copper and uranium mining operation at Olympic Dam near Roxby Downs;
30:00: We travel north on the Stuart Highway through the outback opal centre of Coober Pedy and meet up with AFD's quad trailer fuel tankers;
35:10: GKT Transport's George Fitzgerald tells of the introduction of bonneted Volvos pulling triple road trains from Adelaide to Darwin for a supermarket chain, beating the rail link by 24 hours;
39:00: Travelling north we run across Top End driver / plant operator Lindsay Davies broken down in the bush - a light hearted interlude;
40:57: The Northern Mack fleet of Tom Ostojic is in growing pains as Tom's sons put pressure on Dad to get bigger... and bigger;
44:28: Going bush with triple trailer fuel tankers from Mt Isa to far flung mine sites in far North West Queensland.
Pleas enjoy, all the best, Bruce (Honeywill)
