Hey everyone! Thanks for all the love on this video. We will be posting more travel ideas soon but come over to our TT page @mrsblinks to see what we are up to!
This idea is amazing, i would have liked the trip itself more than the destination haha, but another idea is leaving like, 3/4 am, so the kids sleep a lot in the car
I love these ideas :-) I just wanted to point out, that everything that you use for the most part is recyclable. So all the bags that are paper, and plastic, all the packaging is recyclable, the milk jugs recyclable, most of what you were using was. So it might be a good idea for the future to have a separate trash bag for recyclables. Especially since that was nine paper bags for a trip, as well as all the packaging for each of the nine items for each kid, plus everything. I really do love all the ideas you use though. I always thought the one with the trip at the top of the car, and you move the thing along with such a cute idea when I saw someone do it. I would have loved that as a kiddo. ♥️
Did anything hapen to the grab handles where the string rubbed when being pulled? I would have probably tide a ring to the geab handles then did the pully system to the rings. Where in FL do you live and where in GA did you go?
i used to not stay awake during road trips, so i was worried abt driving long distances. but i learned abt the license plate game at 17 and its the only thing that keeps me awake on the road bc it takes more effort than seeing a color, not so much effort that it distracts me driving. i can stay awake on road trips, it annoys my mom tho bc i randomly shout out a state name and she refuses to play. her loss lol
We used to leave in the evening after my parents got off work to drive from GA to Texas. My parents switched out while the other one slept. Some of my best memories growing up were sitting up late at night with my dad talking to him while everyone else slept. This was back in the late 70’s and all throughout the 80’s. We even make a few trips to CA that way.
My road trips as a kid consisted of; drink, blanket and pillow, and no sleep the day before so I could pass out in the car 😂 To me it felt like teleportion because I'd just close my eyes and opened them when we were there - so I liked it, and my dad loved the silence 😂
Awwww..... I saw this and so many memories flooded my mind and heart from when my littles were actually little. My now adult "little" noticed I was doing the heavy breathing while trying to stop the tears thing and asked why I was crying. I showed her and she yelled out, "omg I remember pushing our paper car driving across our car on vacations and the pulley to share toys back and forth and the binders you made each of us, oh and the scratchers for movies, music or surprises. Those were the best times!" And then any chance of stopping the tears was clearly not happening and I cried like a baby. It just goes by way too fast. Its sweet to know that all those precious moments are still cherished memories for my kids even now that they are grown. Thanks for sharing this. 💗
I did 9 hour road trips all the time when I was little (cause my grandparents lived far) and I never got anything this nice. We had A&W, little TVs that strapped to head rests and LOTS of breaks. Play ground time was KEY to keeping us quiet. Also I can’t decide if I’m jealous of you lunch or think it’s too fancy for a road trip.
I agree. We took a 15 hr trip with 4 under 10 and a teenager. They were each told to bring two books. We stopped for lunch and had dinner when we checked in. The key is to start earlier where they can sleep most of the way and books can be anything from wheres Waldo to their fave novel. Never had an issue.
This reminds me of when I was little. I’d get one snack, one candy bar, a sandwich for lunch, and a book of dot to dot puzzle sheets. Great memories, I bet they’ll remember this fondly.
My mom used to tell us to look out the window. We weren’t aloud to use electronics or bring toys because the car would be too “messy” our 5 hour road trips sucked!!! We couldn’t pick what to play on the radio, and we only aloud to ask 1 question every hour (we asked a lot of random questions)
This is such a great idea. As a granny now, I NEVER do long road trips (that's my children's fun job) but we do a lot of one tank trips about 3 hours away but having bags for them to do down and back would be great since they usually are in meltdown mode on way back. The pulley system is great because that's where my grands sit.
Wow😮 you’re better than me. We do an eleven to twelve hour drive with the children. We stop for breakfast after three hours, we stop for cake and milkshake at nine hours and then that’s it. They have films, colouring books, phones, etc with them. Most times they tend to fall asleep.
when I was five we drove to denver from houston and my mom made little activity for each bags for each letter of the alphabet; A might’ve been gluing together and decorating an ant, etc; there were construction paper scraps, pipe cleaners, makers, literally any type of craft thing you could think of, and we hung the finished crafts on the windows of the van. I remember the drive more than the actual trip!!
My parents drove from West Virginia to Florida for vacation when I was younger and the car trips were honestly so fun. Would leave super early each morning so I spent most of the morning still sleeping and new activities to do in the car each day of travel.
This is so awesome!!! I remember road trips being awful and stressful as a kid, the drives always ended with crying and yelling, this is a really cool way to make easier on your kiddos!😊
This seems so fun! I remember being a kid going on holiday and having our parents take us out of bed blanket and all and putting us in the car half asleep at 4am and just being under our duvet cover all morning sleeping in the car. It was so cosy and made the drive much better. Just something in the car that you normally wouldn't made it special. Like having toys and colouring books
We go on 12 hour trips to Mexico every year to visit family and we start at like 4 am and just sleep and then listen to music and then pray and then i just daydream. You stuff sounds fun tho
Guys please remember that the surprise bags are cheaper then you would expect! You can get some of those coloring things at dollar stores. They don't have to be expensive. Just little things to pass the time!
I go on a 9-10 hour trip at least once a year I leave around 10 pm and the kids sleep almost the entire trip. It's nice for them they feel like it's a short trip
gimme a blanket a pillow and mobile data and imm be alr but i definitely get that younger kids can get bored and want to rum around alot and get fussy so this is a amazing idea!
Omg if I had this on my first road trip maybe I wouldn’t be sleeping 24/7 and feeling nauseous even though I’m not carsick 😭 Also the fact my brother didn’t go and I had no one to talk to did not make it any better 🙃
About to roadtrip around US(long time coming), currently will be solo. But this video reminded me of how smart my mother was with 6kids. She always had or gave us stuff to do. Sometimes games, reading, and many other things. But a favorite was I spy type games, making sure we had interacting time(practice for future) and leave alone time, when one of us, as kids do, don't want any attention, "STOP looking at me!!" Moments. HAHA. Great stuff ! May steal the pulley idea. Thanks for sharing & bringing me!!!🤗🤗🤙🤙🤙👏👏👏👏
Man that drive from FL to GA and vice versa is hellish. Ive made the trip a couple of times from ATL to St. Augustine and Tampa and back. Hope you enjoyed GA!
As a little kid, we would go on 6-18 hour long road trips fairly often. We would just talk or sing together, look out the window, or play games based on the cars, like license plate games or guessing which car we will pass next. One time, my mom tried to do some weird game/life hack thing where you had to find small items in a container of rice, but she never did that again. I think the surprise bags shown in the video are excessive. Obviously, to each their own when it comes to parenting. However, I think it is a lot of a paper bags that you are using. I suppose it doesn't count as "a waste" but it still feels wrong to me when you could just let the kids enjoy the time in their own way. The pulley is cool, and the destination thing across the front is useful, so you don't have to hear "Where are we?" every couple hours. All I have to say now is: I'm just glad they don't have iPads.
Great ideas, when I was little, I remember long trips we had to do from sicily to Italy, I remember games we would do with vehicles or license plates and singing lots of singing 😊
when I was travelling across Canada as a kid my grandmother would make goodie bags to open with a snack and a activity pack for every province, this really brought me back and made my day❤
I love road trips!! I never get bored watching around! I use to carry the map and read all the signs! Now I carry the Google maps and measure the distance and watching around!
OMG YOU ADDED OCALA 🥰 I GREW UP THERE AND WHENEVER SOMEONE ASKED "oh well where in florida are you from?" I ALWAYS HAVE TO SAY CENTRAL FLORIDA NEAR GAINESVILLE
