G day Joe the thing I have learnt is it's very hard to tune an engine that's over carbed I play with inline 6 red motors and every man and dog complain about triples But everyone tends to get 2 inch SUs because that's what they ran at Bathurst But last time I checked I am not blasting down conrod on they way to work I run 3 hs4 SUs 1.5 inch this increases the air speed and the and air fuel mixture making it so nice to tune
Vacuum reading 60 km/h 80kph 90--100km/h these areas are your cruise . Cruise is primary jets Have your PV setting for 90 km/h plus vacuum reading Set the PV R power valve restrictor either by drill, thread , jet . [high end carbs have this done already ]This will set your mixtures when the PV is operating . Accelerator pump irons out transition . U will have enough volume but when is the answer . Change your fuel requirements by pump cam curve . U will need an assortment of nozzles and cams . This is all very basic but there ialso alot more needed than just this usually
Great Job Joe as always thanks for including your up dates and data, Hopefully you can sort out the lower rev's issue, Would be very cool to see some 1/4 mile runs to see how she performs, If you ever decide too take it to a track that is. And get some Data, Consistency and Performance Ect!! would be proof of your engine building to man. You got Bloody lucky with your gearbox usually when they lose Fluid pressure that kills them pretty Quick, I hope to see more Video's about the Vs 304, any way keep up the good work mate and cheers.
Thankyou. I do plan to run the car down the quarter when the new track at the bend is completed. As for the gearbox, I noticed I lost top gear then the car seemed to need more revs to move. I pulled over and yea, the trail actually started from the driveway I left from. I didn't need to tell my mate where to come pick me up from, he just followed my trail.
if its running nice under WOT# the carby size must be pretty close to optimal size.. especially if AFRs look good.. especially if there decent sized jets in that 850
thats fairly big sized secondary jets for a sbc chev especially not being a huge comp engine.. playing with power valves may help you out mate 👍 if your SA based and need more help mate sing out and theres also an older bloke who's done chevs forever in Adelaide
@@Joedennett69 yeah, I’m possibly wrong. I just thought maybe the larger jets are compensating for air speed. I really enjoy all of these videos, it’s great seeing someone posting content who doesn’t just bullshit and is happy to admit when they’re learning.
