I moved the gas tank to the left and placed on a box. I was able to change the sparkplugs and install the patrick racing big air kit. I saved myself a good 30 mins of work, thank you.
I have a 09 raider. Needs a tune-up. Thanks for the video. Excellent example. I've been searching for days for an in-depth tutorial, and you nailed it. Thanks again!
Great videos and great detail. I had the honor of breaking the fuel line that comes off the left side of the tank. The hose was brittle apparently and snapped. Full tank of fuel too I might add. I went ahead and replaced both fuel hoses coming off the tank. The bike is a 2006 and I pulled the tank 3/2024, so it was expected I guess. Thanks again for the great content!
Nice video you've done. Tip for you when using the ratchet, to help protect from accidental paint or dent damage, cut an old water hose or automotive heater hose to fit over the handle of the wrench. Heater hose also works great for gripping to help greasy hands from slipping off the handle. What a chore though just to change the filter, bet a lot of them never get changed.
Ray- thanks for the video. Very thorough and worked well for me . Changed out the airfilter without a problem! Its funny how people will be lazy and not disco the fuel lines when it literally takes an extra 5 mins to do it right and avoid stressing the hoses.
Nice video. Just to advices for the home mechanic: Always keep on of your hands at the end of the ratchet/allen this way when it touches painted surfaces it wont scratch anything Always use force to pull, not push, on tools, that way when fasteners (bolts, screws..) give you wont fall in to the bike Oh and very cute kids!
awesome job on the video...thanks for putting that together...didn't realize that it had that goofy security screw on the side....so I ordered a set. your video just saved me some aggravation and a lot of extra time running to get a tool to take the security screw out...and I didn't know about the fuel shut offs valves......nice job, thanks for posting
Very nice two video's. Just purchased a '06 Roadliner w/34K and wanting to change out the filter. I might just swing it out of the way but hopefully it won't stress the hoses. I'll have to look at it when I get to that point. Thanks again, big help!
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a very long time. Good job. I bought a 06 Roadliner yesterday and was scouring the net for what was behind the covers...under the tank, etc... Nice. I didn't get a manual. Or it could be under the seat!
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you found it helpful! If you're looking for a Roadliner manual, you can snag them pretty cheap off eBay or pull down a digital copy from ManuasLib: www.manualslib.com/manual/659447/Yamaha-Roadliner-Xv1900av.html#manual Happy riding!
thanks i just watched your video and it was exactly what i needed. I want to change my plugs so i hope i can figure the rest out on my own cause there are no videos on how to do that.
If you are not doing something that requires taking off the gas tank, there should be no need to disconnect the fuel lines. If you are taking off the tank, you can avoid disconnecting the fuel lines by swinging the tank to the side like I demonstrate (somewhat) in the video. Just be aware that the tank is still connected and set it on a stable surface accordingly.
Hope when you put in K&N filter you left air box lid off (using two large fender washers to hold exposed K&N filter in place).... Otherwise you gained Zero performance/power over stock. Not a single hp (gontonIvams Performance website.. He tests every configuration of air intakes)
I am hoping this is the same as the Raider. Everything looks the same. I am installing a baron Big Air Kit as well as a Cobra Fi2000 tuner. The security screw on side cover threw a hitch into things though. Might have to try making tool or dremel the tit out of the screw. Great video and thanks.
xmanrigger, I believe that the Raider's are very similar but I'm not 100% certain. For the security screw, check eBay or a tool shop like Harbor Freight for a cheap security bit set.
