I'm sick and tired of these tiny minorities of people being able to change our national treasures, be it man or mineral. These are kids books for god's sake, they've been ok since the day they were published,why change them now ? They don't need re writing, who are these books supposed to be offending, please, someone tell me.

The best way to stop this silliness is not to buy the “new” versions and only the original texts.

Why are we messing about with such an inspirational author & his books, to many ppl had them books as children & I'm definitely not right wing for enjoying them, I find it disrespectful that it's all been changed.

I've been buying up all old editions of these books, films and TV shows the are getting censored and altered with cash over the last few days, particularly those that "Prevent" thinks are "right wing". I reckon they'll we worth a bit when the war is over, if they survive the book burning... That reminds me, must pick up a copy of Farenheit 451...

Puffins explanation for the changes were as limp as the changes themselves. They said oh we need to protect young readers in what might be their first unsupervised book. Firstly that is an insult to the author and the intelligence of the reader. Secondly none of Dahls books are likely to be a child's first unsupervised read. More like Thomas the tank engine.

I'm betting that all the "naughty" words have now been removed from new editions of books like Huckleberry Finn. Years ago a lot of us used to tell the very worst non-PC jokes, of all sorts, not because we were far right extremists, but precisely because of the finger wagging from the Woke brigade.

We used to vote with our feet. If something offended us or wasn't quite to our taste, we simply moved on, moved past it, kept our money in our pockets. Having battled Dyslexic all of my life, reading great books of note, or any books, was never going to be easy for me. When I was aged 12, my then English Class teacher (I grew up in SA) Miss Atkins, was on a quest to get me to read something. Anything. I ended up with a dog-eared, creased & much thumbed, 'Kiss Kiss' which to my brain, was translated into 'Ssik Ssik' and it all made perfect sense to me, in the end and I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short stories. The weird and wonderful appealed to me. What has really surprised me, is how the Dahl estate, has seemingly gone along with this nonsense, even issuing an apology for any 'hurt' feelings caused by Ronald Dahl's original writings. Must be something to do with all the money, it will be receiving from Netflix.

Finally someone who knows where “woke” comes from! There is nothing wrong with being woke if one is referring to the original usage. People are just being annoying by trying to change its meaning.

Tales of the unexpected was an absolute marvel. As someone born in 1994 well after this program i go out of my way to watch, after my father turned me onto the program. It still stands as an english marvel of language today. The fact it hasnt been recreated as well as Roald’s book’s stands testament to why it should be left alone. The man would have moved with us and the times but sadly he cant. Leave his art alone.

The ideal man to ask Jeffery Archer, he’s used to things being rewritten - like trying to alter Angela Peppiatt‘a diary of his movements for his 1987 trial.

He re wrote his book plenty when he was told his initial writing was problematic and had racists tropes abound. Plus I love how when a business practices capitalism and makes decisions to make more Capitol the maga idiots are the first to cry about it.

Apparently, they are releasing an unedited classic version of the books to go alongside the new versions.

To be fair the books should be updated to fit current lexicon.
