Bro, Brooooo. I reckon you definitely lost out on a great opportunity to have a Real Good Adventure, there's nothing better than experiencing Mother Naure when she shows her might. I'm not giving you kak but honestly you would have so many additional memories and experiences if you just stayed and camped through the storm. I know you would not have been able to pitch your roof tent as normal but I think you could have recced a good tree, established where the prevailing wind was coming from and just placed the jimny in the right point next to the tree, far enough so the tree doesnt whip the tent but close enough to prevent the heavy cross winds. i reckon you should also organsie yourself a good surplus military canvas tent and keep it somewhere as a backup, I'm not sure what availability is like in SA's surplus stores but next time you head UK way I can point you out the good gear for that purpose. A good option would probably be the French F1 canvas tent, its a 2man but would be great for you since your'e quite tall, it works well when I wild camp and need to house my rucksack and other gear too. Beautifull place "daar innie ou Kalahari".Yip,i miss travelling those parts.Have been tourguiding SouthernAfrica for almost 14 years until Dec 2009.Namib&Kalahari my favourite routes, eish how i miss it right now.Landrover defender 90 series was my favourite during those photography tours.Suzuki "vattiekakie"takes no shit.I know the SJ too well.These Dinky toy 4x4 take no shit.Sad,because i am a dialyses patiant for two years now,i can only dream of camping ever again,hence someone donates me a kidney.Greetings to bush friends from a Namibian lost in Germany's urban jungle.

Unfortunately we can't get this micro suv with the 4x4 setup in the USA 😭 Small engine such a perfect micro suv. We can even equip this little guy with the proper rear differential locking system 😔

Landed in Australia the manual leaves 340Kg and the Auto 325Kg for load including passengers. I am wondering if you would have transport authorities giving you a ticket if you were over or doesn't it matter in South Africa?

Good one ! You should have stuck the storm out in CKGR. One of the unique characteristics of the Kalahari is the build-up to and the actual thunder/dust/rain storm. Lay your hands on a book called 'Cry of the Kalahari' by Mark and Dehlia Owen - you were right there where they stayed for 7 years. Enjoy !
