This Roasted Pecans With Butter and Salt Recipe probably shouldn't be called a recipe at all. There are only 3 ingredients. It's more of a tutorial on how to roast pecans southern style.
I enjoyed your video. You sound like my uncle Will, who could not cook but man, did he love to eat. He had a big pecan tree in his yard and we always had pecans for my grandma to make these toasty pecans. Thanks for the recipe and the memories.
Great recipe Uncle Jim! I’ve done this recipe 3-4 times already. I added black pepper, chili pepper and garlic powder to the salt. Lessened the butter by a lot (because I am watching our cholesterol) and added extra virgin olive oil. This a good instructional video. Thank you for sharing! ♥️🙂 P.S. You do have a soothing way of talking. Great for narration, Sir.
Hey uncle jim. Thanks so much for this video. Ive made these a few times now and they are a big hit. We tweaked it a bit using borsari seasoning salt and wow. Thank for the comforting sounds of your voice and the kindness i an hear in it. Have a fantastic day. Xo
Griff, I'm still in the deep south and I keep a supply of roasted pecans of some type in my pantry all the time! This is about the easiest recipe I have. Give it a try and I hope you enjoy it. Have a great day!
Thank you sir I’m going to give your recipe a try and thanks again for telling me everything I need to know love the way you explained everything to a T I will be watching more of your videos.. I’m from Northeast Alabama on top of Lookout Mountain
Hi, Uncle Jim! I’m about to try your recipe. Thanks for posting this. It looks simple and i can hardly wait to see how they turn out! Will let you know.
Great Julia. I love roasted pecans. I'm gonna' be doing another version soon. Spicy! I hope you enjoy the recipe. Just be sure to do the taste test. Some people like 'em really toasty!
Just got ‘em in the oven. I had been keeping the pecans in the freezer, so when I poured the melted butter over them it got kind of solid! But each pecan half was coated, though, so should be ok. Also, our oven seems to be on the “cool” side (260 by the reckoning of my little thermometer), so i bumped it up to 325. Keeping a close watch on them.
sunshinegirl1967 I use a pound of pecans to a 4-ounce stick of butter. The recipe actually says 3 ounces of butter but I always use a whole stick. Enjoy!
Stick to the recipe as is (with the exception of spices) I just did a batch at 350 for 12 minutes and they totally burned. Made another batch at 300 for 25 min stirring at 10 and 20 mark. Perfect. Time and Temperature like the man says, people.
I made your roasted pecans today with a slight change. I used an 8 oz. bag of Trader Joe's raw pecan halves and 1/2 stick of unsalted butter and 2 teaspoons of Redmond Ancient Fine Sea Salt. I baked at 350 for 12 minutes. You might want to try 350 instead of 300 Uncle Jim as they will roast faster. I tossed and flipped at about the 8-minute mark. Next time I'll use 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt. Oh and by the way I refused to buy Trader Joe's roasted pecans as they were made with soybean oil (yuck!).
