@@Saint_Wolf_nah they’re trees but most of the time you’ll see them smaller bc no one wants to work with huge trees when they can just keep them small and compact for ease of access.
You probably know this being the coffee nerd that you are but mostly to remind everyone that watches: You must let your coffee rest for a couple weeks after roasting. If you don't know why just look it up. Edit: Sorry, you don't HAVE to. It won't kill you of course but it will taste much better if you do. And upon reflection I think it's pretty likely that the beans he used were actually already rested and the beans he roasted in the video either were filmed a long time ago or weren't the ones he used to brew.
@@bigoldawg2791bro, he literally told you to look it up. But by letting it rest, she means leaving it in a place that allows the coffee to release the CO2 after roasting and thus does not become extremely acidic. Normally you have to let it rest for a week or two.
@@as48507 if you’re keen to do home roasting a much better way, look at bread maker + heat gun. Still cheap and you can roast 500g per roast easy peasy with much much better results than a pan over heat.
Sounds like the roast would be very uneven then. Why not just buy beans at a proper roaster? It is not like quality improves by self roasting them. I mean the espresso in the video will be very bad, since he immedieatly uses the beans after roasting.@@as48507
Even if you are not a fun of taking coffee. The aroma is always nice... when brew I hv people that don't take coffee but the like the aroma around the house.😊
That's an incredible roaster... About $900 for a small counter-sized appliance. Of course there are cheaper roasters to be had, but this looks awesome.
I recommend letting your roasted beans rest for at least 24 hours before tasting. Freshly roasted beans give off a lot of excess carbon dioxide, which will affect flavor poorly. Optimal brewing time is roughly two weeks after roasting date if stored properly. Oxygen is coffee’s enemy! Happy brewing ❤
For espressos 2 weeks or more for coffee u can brew right away as long as you let grounds rest for 20 minutes after grinding than a long bloom. This guys espresso has to taste sour lol
@@eduardocintasIt depends on the kind of coffee. More complex and lighter roast coffees need to rest longer. Darker roast don’t need to rest as long. 1 week is good but 2 weeks is better for some coffees.
Overoasted. Only stronger bitter taste, if you prefer it. They roasted coffee really dark to extend shelf life. If you roast it yourself, you can try to go lighter lil bit, it'll taste different.
I don’t understand why all of you come to a ritualistic hobbyist coffee making video just to make fun of him for enjoying this. It’s weird to me, and it’s literally every one of these videos
Any home roaster would know that cup tastes like straight c02. The beans need to rest for at least 2 days to offgas and after 7 to begin the full flavor profile.
As a Speciality coffee roaster I can say there is nothing to this except aesthetics. First it looks like that just follows a preset profile so it leaves room for roast defects (and a lot of it) and you should ( not of this you can crap ) let you coffee rest for at least 2 days or you are messing up your coffee. But it looks cool so that counts for something and I might just get it because it looks cool😂
My only thought there is perhaps they don't live close to a good roaster or one who does the style of roasts they like. I live in a wonderful area full of local roasters, but agree it would be fun to try this out either way!
Except it's rare if not unheard of for influences and content creators to show off "inexpensive" stuff. You never see a video on these kinds of channels showing which simple countertop drip brewer is the best bang for your buck from all the cheap stuff at Walmart or something. It's ALWAYS top of the end, brand new, espresso only content that honestly most people don't get into or can't afford to get into if they wanted. It's cool to see where the tech is, but it's underwhelming when they are discontinuing old versions when they're still super expensive, then coming out with only new, more expensive products, pricing people out basically for life. Closest I got to this was buying a setup from a second hand store, it still set me back almost $100 for everything, and a lot of the components had broken and didn't work at all. I ended up tossing the whole thing after a year and stuck with regular coffee pots since.
@@LotusAuer I definitely understand what your saying and I believe it to be true. If you have a big influence on the internet why not try to show off some top of the line stuff and also try to make some profit off of it. I’ve been using a pour over that I bought off Amazon that’s cheap and inexpensive (27 dollars usd) and it’s amazing. Seeing something at the opposite end that’s super expensive and does the same thing, is really cool
Freshly roasted beans actually smell awful. Like "Open all the windows" awful. It smells acrid while roasting which is why you let them rest a week or two before actually grinding and using them.
@@kefka3 " It smells acrid while roasting which is why you let them rest a week or two before actually grinding and using them." that's false. The smell is not great during roasting as it's practically burning the coffee (depends on how dark roast is, light roast doesn't smell too bad) but the resting is not related to smell at all. It's to degas and let the CO2 escape. Also most roasters will not rest coffee for weeks before selling them. If you are getting a fresh batch you'll likely get them after 12-24h of degas+whatever time it takes to pack and ship them
Having a temp hold compartment just to automatically drop it down to the roasting compartment …. Is exactly what true coffee connoisseurs like to say exquisite, to the absolute useless feature and pay top dollar…. Just magnificent 😂
what is the point of the hopper in this product? Surely it makes more sense to just pop a lid open, pour in your portion of beans, close the lid, press go, and remove when finished? the motorised hopper seems entirely unnecessary
Ooooh how fancy what a cool machine.... I really enjoy how everything matches and looks like it came together as apposed to a few diffrent machines with diffrent colors etc.
Technology has come so far, did you know you can now get a little machine that you put pods into and after it warms up you press a button and it gargles some coffee out…. 😂 the best part is all the hate you get from commenters when you tell people about this wonderful technology. Great video, love the tools, looks like a great experience and therapy with a delicious prize at the end top man, or woman, person, or…. Broccoli whatever it’s cool
Whenever I see these videos I think about all the rich people that must've seen them and imitated them without actually knowing what anything is supposed to do
My friend you have to let the coffe relax for a few days after roasting.Durong roasting procedure coffee beans release CO2.If you roast it alot an it turns black there is not much left, yes but it stil releases. So you have to let it relax, release all the CO2 so you will be able to taste much better quality caffee. With much love from another coffee lover💪
Hi, if you don't mind I have a suggestion! I want to see you brew some south american Coffee's like quindio, gold and Nahua! (My personal favorites) It would be intresting to see the results of how they taste! Thank you.
been roasting for twenty years. Degassing is needed absolutely but how long? varies. In the end coffee is what you want it to be. Five years ago if you told me eveyone would be drinking coffee as light as it is now I would have bet the farm - NO. but here we are. Coffee is so light now that the essence of body is hard to find, most coffees are so acidic BECAUSE they are light.....but as I have always said, you can take what I make you and do what you want. It's YOUR coffee and if you want to do what others thinks is NUTS well then go for it......the tenets of good coffee are waning......it seems...just look at the workflow......workflow is supposed to make things better and potentially faster. this is all about ASMR madness.......
Clearly it tasted like a sock, he didn't inscribe each bean with with the magic words, you can tell because the coffee is 0.000005624% too lightly colored. And he thinks himself some sorta "barista" *HARUMPH*
@@lethaunticfor sure OP is pointig that direct roast to grind You get to much CO2 and that does not taste good and overcome the Aroma. Im prety sure that if him invest that much time/money he knows what he does. And just don't Saw a good "take" on rest process. But still crema quantity at the end let we think ir could benefict from a little more rest.
You should have waited a least a week to grind those freshly roasted coffee beans for the flavor to mellow and develop. This is why Coffee Aficionados are better than nerds and morally superior to snobs.
Freshly roasted, fine, but with so much CO2 trapped in there, the extraction is going to be ass. Let these beans sit for a few days so they can gas off.
