Indigo eyes used to be somewhat common, but they were basically bred out and replaced with the crystal blue color (y'know, Germany's eye color). Alexander Hamilton came from both Scottish and Caribbean ancestors, so it's safe to assume that his relatives (and other people from the same region his ancestors came from) had indigo eyes/the genes that would give a person indigo eyes. It's theorized that the gene for blue and indigo eyes mutated in Europe (caucasian skin and blue eyes are both mutations that are believed to have occured in Europe before/right after Pangaea split up), so it would make sense if European nations had blue or indigo eyes. There is also a huge possibility that indigo eyes were as common as blue eyes are today before paintings became more realistic (as opposed to the hieroglyphic-esque art that came before the renaissance)

It's also possible he's sexually abused Lithuania, but I can't confirm that, but everything he's done to Lithuania is just plain inexcusable. Lithuania is a messed up character now, and he's an absolute _magnet_ for abusive relationships because of how he internalizes everything and doesn't talk back, if the way he acts around Russia is anything to go off of. Historical Hetalia is very interesting and adds a particular layer of darkness and angst to the fandom that I, honestly, enjoy. I love history as a whole and applying it to the Hetalia nations makes it better, especially the tidbits that aren't as well-known. I also wonder, would APH Finland have to go through the same things (or similar things at least) as the Baltics when he was the Duchy of Finland under the Russian Empire? Because that would be 108 years of him being Russia's subordinate, and we all know Russia doesn't treat his subordinates as people. And Russia (as a country) has been stalking and harassing Finland (as a country) ever since Finnish independence, so I can see APH Russia stalking APH Finland, too.

@@meteorshower8490 I don't know anything about Finnish history but I could see the personifications being so mentally damaged based from their histories. How can any human withstand that? They all must have like, selective memories!? I think Finland would most likely be oblivious if Russia was "stalking" him or keeping an eye on him in but it would most likely be because his boss told him to since in most fanfics i've read there's always a "boss" that decides what to do regardless of the country itself's opinions and that person in charge is probably the president. This "headcanon" or idk can also be applied when Russia was ruled by the Romanovs...it bugs me to think if Russia was lowkey siding with Stalin and the rebels. It's obvious that the country themselves want what's best for their people since they are what keeps them alive. Was Russia also living with the Romanovs and taking care of the Romanovs and the princesses of Russia? (and what would his reactions to Rasputin be?) I'm also really curious if he didn't know that the Romanovs would be massacred or MAYBE no one knew that every country had a personification and they instead lived with humans. That also makes me wonder if China was hiding himself in the rise of the different dynasties or lived thinking he was a God because of his immortality or was he living a peaceful life, unaware of his purpose? There are so many possibilities and I'm pretty sure their personalities and traits are much much intense and serious if it's based from reality. Hetalia just shows a more stereotypical and comedic approach of it.

@@seurn7801 I saw a headcanon that the nations' personifications come equipped (I don't know what other word to use ;;) with stronger mental resilience that's far above a normal human's, otherwise they wouldn't be sane enough to speak (and it also guards them against certain things like chronic depression). But Italy Veneziano has shown many signs of repressing memories of his childhood to avoid having to think about Roman Empire and Holy Roman Empire, since the memories cause him too much pain (and these memories resurface when he sleeps so he wakes up screaming from nightmares), and I also see how Germany and England both suffered incredibly tough childhoods that led to them being hostile and temperamental. Despite that they still take waaayyy more than normal people would be able to stay sane through. So I can see how they're more resilient by nature, but not completely immune. Russia has shown to still have... issues with Finland. He tampered with Finland's phone so that it would continuously go off until Finland agreed to spend the day with Russia. Not to mention things like the Winter War. And in general it seems like he doesn't like it when his subordinates leave him, which Finland did. He most likely does this of his own free will, since it spans several generations and several of his bosses, so it can't be other people telling him to do it. He's been stalking Lithuania ever since they were children, too. We don't really know about Russia's political alignments, but we can speculate. I know that Stalin was cruel towards Russia and didn't treat him correctly, usually letting him freeze and starve while wearing warm clothes and eating directly in front of him, and threatening to "punish" Russia, which caused Russia to become *very* afraid. It should be noted that the personifications *have* to listen to their bosses, whether or not they disagree. I think they know that the personifications exist, since humans talk about meeting them and taking pictures with them while acknowledging them and calling them their nation names. There's this one episode in Beautiful World where a man takes a picture with France, and he tells the story to his grandson, and he refers to France as "France". Fifty years later, that grandson meets France and also addressed him as France. Prussia, when he was still Teutonic Knights, fought directly alongside his fellow knights, so I'm guessing they knew the guy who's been with them for hundreds of years. So most likely the citizens know about their personifications.
