This is so cool. My guess is that if you are on Alone again, you are going to lobby for a portable woodstove to be allowed as one of your 10 items! The only question is what would you give up so you could bring the stove? If a collapsible stove was allowed as one of the 10 items, my guess is that almost everyone would choose it. Nice cooking video. Next they are going to recruiting you for Chefs vs Wild! Cheers from Alaska
Nice stove setup! I cooked two pigeons (Squab) the same way, was delicious! For those that are wondering these pigeons foraged in the country not in the city.
Woniya, I know you’re busy, but we miss your videos. Can you post a teaser video of what you’ve been up to, future plans, etc? I’m sure you’re recouping and enjoying all your hard work. Either way, take good care.
Aw, thanks so much Jerry. I was unable to keep up the channel and get my memoir written on schedule, so I shifted focus away from the channel, but the book is nearly done and will be released im June; so I am hoping to be able to post videos again in the future!
Awesome, We know you’re busy and honestly if you’re somewhat set from your tremendous win on Alone, wouldn’t blame you if you just chilled and enjoyed your life. Either way, I’m a huge fan, so glad you knocked it out of the park for all of your fans, especially the ladies that were due for a win. All of you were so tough, skilled and strong. I’ll keep an eye out when you return. Until then, take good care of yourself, nothing left to prove that would damage your health.
Hi. How is your health after your last Alone. Congratulations which I have already done before on a video before the show. It looks like your weight is still down. In the old days we used steak and potato. It probably wouldn’t hurt. Love your videos
Several friends here including hunters have told me that road killed animals whatever kind, is usually not consumable, with I have a hard time to beleive, unless its completey ruined of course.
When I finally disappear from what is referred to as society, that's the setup I'm using. The water heater and oven are just right for that Winnerwell Nomad. As much as I like the titanium folding stove and the Colman oven for travel, the Nomad is superior for static camping.
Good thing you hit a quail with your car, anything larger would be a challenge with that oven! A friend of mine has a homemade large (turkey sized) circular oven sitting on 6” stovepipe. On the back of the oven there is a crank handle with internal scrapper to keep the oven passage clean. (Couple cranks and it clears the soot out) On a square stove at some point it will become clogged and require some ingenuity to clear.
Yes, this is sized for a small woodstove for traveling. I have baked a loit of biscuits in it but it isn't designed for big roasts and the chimney is narrow so it can all fit into the stove. Agreed that cleaning it will take ingenuity, I've been picturing a small wire chimney brush with a 90 degree crook so I can get in around those corners. We'll see! Your friends set up sounds great but not well suited to a small traveling stove like this one
Great little video! We also are over-run with California Quail, primarily because we go through sacks of sunflower seeds for them and all the other birds; life gets tough for them with our cycles of snow-thaw-freeze. Unfortunately for me, my wife insists any bird or animal on our property has sanctuary and, as she constantly reminds me, we are not in a survival situation; the birds are! So any quail will remain off our plates! Love watching everything you put out, Woniya, and congrats on finishing Alone!
