Hi Rob If any, what are the disadvantages of the thinner wall in a 90cm Cobia? I love the lightness but dont want to shoot myself in the foot by not going for the Sparid. Accuracy? Range? Etc. Only looking at wall thickness comparison, all else accounted for my end. Thanks!
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 3 месяца назад
At this short a length there are only advantages, no disadvantages. Even if you powered it up it will be fine. No need for the heavier wall on such a short gun.

Excellent video, I would like to know if the barrel of the COBIA speargun also have a rail as the TUNA version.
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing Год назад
Yes it does but slightly thinner walled so not a heavy. No need for a beefed up heavy gun when not necessary.
@eddievazquez8063
@eddievazquez8063 Год назад
@RobAllenSpearfishing Thanks for the response Rob, but I believe there is a misunderstanding. What I meant by 'rail' is the groove along the aluminum tube to fully support the spear. I just ordered the COBIA speargun to get started in the sport. Eventually I will get the TUNA
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing Год назад
@@eddievazquez8063 Yes it does have a rail, but as mentioned before, the wall of the tube is slightly thinner. The spear is supported all the way along the barrel in a groove just like our standard barrel.

Hi Rob is this jst like the Tuna Railgun? same barrell handle nd muzzle jst different set up rubbers nd shaft
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 10 месяцев назад
This barrel is slightly thinner walled, more than strong enough for this single rubber but will feel a lot lighter as it has more internal buoyancy.

Just bought your bridal with loading handle and it's made my gun soooo much better. All good having a great gun but what's the point if you can't load the bloody thing!! Always wondered, why don't RA guns have the loading butt?
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 2 года назад
Loading butts are available for those who want. The majority of the market does not want. In terms of "load-ability" we offer many options. Some can load 20mm rubbers where as some even battle with 14mm. It is not about strength, more about technique. Have you watched our video on how to load?
@abidhajher7076
@abidhajher7076 2 года назад
@@RobAllenSpearfishing Ive never actually tried loading without a butt🤔 I'll have to try one. when I was buying my gun the assumption was "surely a butt would be easier on the chest" Giving it some thought though there would be far greater surface area without one, Which would mean less pain and more grip if I'm not mistaken
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 2 года назад
@@abidhajher7076 I agree, I personally find it harder with the loading butt but we make what the market wants 🤣

Can the 1100 cobia shoot kingfish and barracuda comfortably with a thinner spear than the 7mm or would I need have to upgrade?
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing Год назад
It will work but a 7mm with 2 x 14mm rubbers will be way better.

Rob i have a problem with my 100cm Tuna sometimes when I shoot the first bands pops out, I use a riffe 7mm shaft on it
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 2 года назад
It's the wrong shaft.... 😉 Joke. This does happen from time to time if there is still lubrication on the band from when assembled. Wash the band with soap just in the area where it fits in the muzzle. This should stop it. A 7mm shaft is a bit too light for out Tuna, this will make the band move too fast and it is possible that the diameter of the band is the cause.

Hi rob, Ive got a 1.3m tuna pro with a 7.5mm 1.7m drop barb shaft and a double wrap breakaways setup with 400lb mono. the rubbers are 75cm twin 16mm and the shaft is straight but for some reason when ive done pool testing at 5.5m it's shooting consistently low and to the left of where i'm aiming by around 25-30cm. Im not sure how to fix this and ive been landing good doggies on it in the field (however i have been in close range), but in the pool it seems to be innaccurate. Any advice on the issue?
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 2 года назад
Hi Glenn, The drop is due to power, I'd shorten the rubbers to 70cm if you can still load it. We normally set up our guns a little weaker than needed as you can always shorten the rubbers but you can't make them longer if too short to load. The left or right placement is usually due to the way it rotates in the wrist. I found it can shoot a little to the left if you are right handed or, to the right if left handed. By shortening the rubbers, it will flatten the trajectory but will increase recoil. This will also increase the left or right trajectory. Try to hold the gun handle much tighter with a stiff arm or, use two hands like you would a hand gun.

And more but the rubber will perish over time. Also the shooting line will need replacing if worn. The spear is also regarded as a "consumable" due to damage if shot into rocks etc.
